Job Description

Consultant

All levels of Consultant will have the skills listed below. Each level may have additional education, skill and/or experience requirements.

The Consultant assists in development of requirements, assists project member with analysis and evaluations, prepares recommendations for technology insertion, system improvements, optimization, development and/or maintenance efforts. The Consultant serves as a subject matter expert.

Required skills include:

  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is required:
    • Incident Response
    • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
    • Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS)
    • Security Information/Event Management
    • Vulnerability Assessment
    • Information Assessment Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA)
    • Software Development Languages: Java, Perl, Ruby, Python, HTML, C, C++, .NET, ColdFusion, Adobe, etc
    • Database Design Tools: SQL, Oracle, MySQL, JBDC, etc
    • Operating System Design with environments such as: Windows, Linux, Apache, TomCat, Ozone Widgets, Spring, Struts, JUnit, Hibernate, etc
    • Agile development methodology
    • Implementing operational view, technical standards view, and system and services view for architectures using applicable standards (e.g., DODAF, FEAF)
    • Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), compliant with ANSI/EIA Standard 748-B required.

Desired skills include:

  • Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following:
    • ArcSight or similar Incident Management tool
    • Packet Capture
    • SourceFire

Certifications:

  • DoD 8570.1-M Compliance at IAT or IAM Level I certification required
  • One or more of the following certifications desired:
    • Certified or Qualified Ethical Hacker (CEH, QEH)
    • Information System Security Architect Professional or Manager (ISSAP, ISSEP)
    • SANS/GIAC certifications (e.g., GCED, GCFA, GCIA, GCIH, CGEC, GPEN, GREM, etc).
    • Networking certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, MCP, etc.)
    • ArcSight or SourceFire certifications (e.g., ACASA, ACIA, ACTP, SFCP, SSCP, etc.)
    • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PgMP)
    1. CON04: Consultant – Senior II
  • Six (6) or more years of applicable experience required.
    [A Master’s degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience. A PhD may substitute for four (4) years of experience.]
  • Bachelor’s degree in information assurance, cyber or software engineering or a related discipline is required.
    [Eight (8) years of experience (for a total of fourteen (14) or more years) may be substituted for a degree.]
    1. CON05: Consultant – Principal I
  • Eight (8) or more years of applicable experience required.
    [A Master’s degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience. A PhD may substitute for four (4) years of experience.]
  • Bachelor’s degree in information assurance, cyber or software engineering or a related discipline is required.
    [Ten (10) years of experience (for a total of eighteen (18) or more years) may be substituted for a degree.]

Additional Responsibilities and/or skills:

  • Leadership experience required.

    1. CON06: Consultant – Principal II
  • Ten (10) or more years of applicable experience required.
    [A Master’s degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience. A PhD may substitute for four (4) years of experience.]
  • Bachelor’s degree in information assurance, cyber or software engineering or a related discipline is required.
    [Twelve (12) years of experience (for a total of twenty-two (22) or more years) may be substituted for a degree.]

Additional Responsibilities and/or skills:

  • Leadership experience required.
    1. CON07: Consultant – Fellow I
  • Twelve (12) or more years of applicable experience required.
    [A Master’s degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience. A PhD may substitute for four (4) years of experience.]
  • Bachelor’s degree in information assurance, cyber or software engineering or a related discipline is required. Advanced degree (Master’s) is preferred.

Additional Responsibilities and/or skills:

  1. CON08: Consultant – Fellow II
  • Twenty (20) or more years of related experience required.
    [A PhD may substitute for four (4) years of experience.]
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or Computer Science is required.
