Job Description: Job Title: Lead TherapistReports to: Director of Clinical ServicesSupervises: Primary Therapists and Adjunct Therapists at specific location FSLA Status: Exempt JOB SUMMARY While overseeing the therapeutic team, the Lead Therapist assesses clients, determines referral needs, provides group therapy, family therapy and group education, formulates and implements treatment plans and provides comprehensive case consultation and follow-up support on treatment decisions in collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary team. The Lead Therapist participates in and leads a variety of team activities, including group supervision and case conferences, and develops, coordinates and delivers in-services, presentations and training to clients, families and caregivers. The Lead Therapist also participates in program development. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES As a Lead Therapist with Alsana you will...Assesses client needs and available services and develops treatment options. Facilitates clients’ utilization of appropriate services and programs and provides advice and consultation to colleagues.Functions as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing client psychosocial and social assessment, and short and long-term individual, group and family therapy using a variety of interviewing, counseling and assessment methods in accordance with professional standards and clinical policies and practices. Manages cases and formulates treatment plans and goals in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, client and family.Delivers group therapy sessions to clients by using various group processes and theory with special emphasis on but not limited to group treatment of eating disorders. Develops and coordinates group sessions including the necessary preparation, prioritizing, scheduling and arranging for space and other resources.Provides therapy to clients with, or affected by, serious eating disorders including people in crisis. Provides therapy and case management in accordance with professional standards and clinical policies and practices.Formulates and implements treatment plans through methods such as negotiating a process for achieving goals, collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and evaluating goals while maintaining respect for client dignity and maximum client self-determination and independence.Maintains client records through required methods such as documenting client assessments, charting client information, preparing progress notes and reports in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements, documenting for future reference and ensuring that access to and disclosure of information and records are in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act.Participates in and leads a variety of team case conferences through methods such as engaging in practice evaluation, identifying opportunities for change, assessing available resources, initiating solutions and analyzing outcomes. Identifies areas for improved efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery to enhance client care services to ensure positive and productive community relationships.Develops, coordinates and delivers in-services, education sessions, presentations and training to clients, families, staff and other caregivers.Participates in Alsana webinar series to increase the organization’s ability to support and market to referral sources, families, and individuals with eating disorders.Maintains knowledge of mental health as it relates to eating disorders and related conditions through methods such as reviewing literature and research, consulting with clinical experts within the field, evaluating clinical practice and participating in professional development activities in order to improve care through new practices.Assists in the orientation and training of new staff and interns; provides internal, local and external training on eating disorders as requested.Participates in the development and evaluation of therapeutic programs through methods such as collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team, providing input and making recommendations to the appropriate staff as requested.Write and submit proposals for attendance at various industry specific conferences (e.g., iaedp), which allows the organization to showcase our multidisciplinary approach.On-Call Responsibilities.Performs other therapist related duties as assigned. Management: Partners with HR and the Director of Clinical Services to interview, hire and train new therapists and help to guide the professional development of staff.Provides on-going supervision of therapists and ensures that treatment is clinically appropriate for the clientsMeets professional and ethical standards of the organization, accreditation agencies, and those of their specific discipline.Coordinates medical care with physicians by following through with their established directives.Works closely with the Director of Clinical Services to coordinate admissions into the program, which includes identification of treatment team, room assignments and oversight of integration into the therapeutic community.Consults with Medical Director/Physician on new admissions, as well as current caseloads. Holds regular meetings with Medical Director/Physician to provide support and continuity between that role and the therapists.Communicates with Director of Clinical Services all critical information relating to issues of quality of care.Provides effective communication among all departments within the specific program.Completes administrative tasks requisite to keep treatment program operating by ensuring that client paperwork, including intake reports, client’s files, progress reports, and treatment plans are up to date and in compliance with regulatory standards.Supports Utilization Review department/process by facilitating communication between therapists and UR for weekly insurance reviews.Serves as a liaison between the treatment program and other entities in the community that are significant and influential in the patients' lives, such as medical doctors, food or referral sources.Oversees therapist scheduling and overtime/vacation/sick time management.Facilitates the training of all new therapists. Participates in the training of other staff that interact with clients as a part of their job responsibilities.Oversees Performance Management of therapists, which includes competencies, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations. Provides input specific to these areas for other Treatment Team members, when appropriate. Partners with Director of Clinical Services and/or Human Resources when appropriate.Monitors daily documentation of therapists per the policy and procedures of the program through regular chart reviews.Serves as a liaison with family members, therapists and other key treatment team members.Enforces and communicates the Level System with the individuals served and advises staff of compliance with the Level System.When appropriate, facilitates treatment team by documenting and assisting the team in effectively conceptualizing the case and identifying goals for individual clients.Facilitates daily clinical update meetings in an efficient and thorough way.Attends weekly clinical management meetings, providing input on opportunities and areas of growth for the specific program.Provides clinical support for direct care, including trainings that better equips them to appropriately work with clients.When appropriate, updates and implements new programming schedule that best meets the needs of our clients.Maintains and ensures the program operates within the guidelines of the appropriate accreditation and licensing agencies.Collaborates with the Program Director on management of milieu, staff training, and client scheduling. QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training, and Experience: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or other relevant health related discipline.Must be an LPC, LMFT, LCSW or Licensed Psychologist.Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) certification preferred.Two years recent related experience working with eating disordered clientsPrevious experience supervising a team preferred. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Demonstrated knowledge of eating disorders intervention strategies.Demonstrated ability to undertake client assessments utilizing mental health and eating disorders standardized tools.Ability to assess, plan, organize, implement, evaluate and problem-solve.Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, groups, and other professionals within an interdisciplinary environment in a diverse community.Ability to work effectively with others, including working effectively in a multicultural environment, independently, as part of an interdisciplinary team and understanding the frameworks of other disciplines.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, families, staff and community agency personnel.Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a complex environment.Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of relevant Acts such as Mental Health Act, Freedom of Information Act, pertinent regulations, policies and procedures, and other statutory duties.Ability to educate and provide consultation to clients, families and healthcare professionals.Ability to develop, coordinate and deliver in-services, presentations, psycho-educational and support groups.Ability to make effective referrals, reflecting in-depth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with other community partners.Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and professional practice guidelines for the treatment of various disorders.Demonstrated therapeutic skills in the areas of case management, individual and group therapy with adults with various mental disorders including eating disorders.Proficiency in the use of personal computers
