Requirements for all teachers include:
- 40-clock-hour Introductory Child Care Training
- FCCPC or CDA
- 5-clock-hour (or .5 Continue Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development
- 10-clock-hours of Annual In-service training
- CPR & First Aid certification
- National background check
- Local background check
- 2 Years of experience (preferred but not required)
- Drug Test
Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. Individual must be flexible in age assignment and other responsibilities such as, cleaning, etc.

- Word Processing - Using a computer application to type text, insert pictures, format, edit, print, save, and retrieve word processing documents
- BrightWheel - Using the app to log daily reports, activities, and communication with parents
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and procedures for maintaining order in the classroom.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
- Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
- Read books to entire classes or to small groups.
- Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Attend to children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Assimilate arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them.
- Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
- Prepare lesson plans, materials for class activities.
- Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and discuss them with supervisors
- Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to children.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
- Must be able to stand up to 95% of the day
- Able to communicate (stoop and bend) with the child on their level
- Bend to perform various tasks numerous times throughout the day
- Have the ability to move quickly for emergency situations
- Perform all activities with children, i.e. jump, dance, walk, run, etc. for extended periods of time
- Observe and respond to children’s needs, emergencies, and conflicts that might occur in a classroom, on playground, in bathrooms, or common areas
- Must be able to excel in a continuously changing environment
- Work hours may vary to meet the needs of the children
- Assist children with their personal hygiene and clean up of classroom
- Attend staff meetings, in-house training, and other center functions, etc., as requested by the director
Maintaining a Clean Environment
- Vacuuming the classroom and surrounding hallways (as often as necessary)
- Cleaning & sanitizing tables and chairs before and after each meal
- Cleaning & sanitizing toys
- Sanitizing mats/cots after nap time
- Maintaining toys & classroom materials organized when not in use
- Cleaning windows (if applicable)
- Taking out trash
- Send personal belongings home to be washed
- Clean and re-organize children's cubbies
- Maintain changing area organized
- Sanitize changing table after each use
- Dispose of dirty diapers in the designated area after each change
- Flush toilets and cleanup after scheduled class bathroom breaks
- Wash the children's hands after using the bathroom and before meals
- Pick up any trash and dispose of it in the trash bin
- Empty trash bin once a week
