Job Description

Food Production Experience Required

Position Summary:

Strategize, forecast, organize, and supervise the operations and activities of the packaging, warehouse, shipping and receiving, sanitation, and maintenance teams. Coordinate and apply warehouse and inventory control procedures and operations to ensure that daily production and sales needs are met and that operations are run safely and efficiently. Plays a critical role in developing and maintaining good relationships with overall team. Utilizes leadership skills to create and promote an environment where employees are engaged, empowered, and committed to the success of the company.

Key Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all internal operational processes

· Identify process bottlenecks, recommend and implement solutions for process flow improvement to include capabilities for growth and participate in re engineering efforts

· Monitor, analyze and measure results of initiatives, fine-tuning or taking corrective actions as necessary

· Oversee and coordinate the flow of goods through the packing, warehousing and shipping processes ensure that schedules are met or are adjusted as necessary

· Balance production demands while ensuring equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with health and safety regulations

· Implement new methods of utilizing machines to optimize production

· Manage and balance resources, budgets, output and expectations

· Monitor and ensure that finished goods - packaging and food contents meet specifications and quality standards

· Manage finished goods inventory

· Work with QA team to ensure programs are implemented and standards/regulations are met

· Further develop and oversee master sanitation schedule

· Verify that proper tools and chemicals are being used during cleaning activities

· Help reduce overall waste- labor, ingredients, packaging and finished product

· Coach, mentor and develop staff, including preparing and conducting employee performance appraisal – Execute cross training to maximize the flexibility and continuous improvement of the workforce.

· Work collaboratively with all employees, build credibility and accountability through listening and valuing their experience and being transparent and professional in communication of changes and what is going on in the business

· Provide on the floor leadership:

o Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses

o Lead and train to accomplish the company goals and objectives

o Responsible for compliance with applicable laws, standards, procedures and certifications

o Review daily production reports to ensure delivery of quality products on time that meet customer requirements. Initiate production contingency plans as needed to stay in flow while meeting requirements for quality and profitability

o Oversee plant and employee safety programs

o Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel

· Superior analytical skills for the preparation of product demand forecasts, financial profitability of product and inventory management issues

· Proven ability to build and manage successful teams

· Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions and priorities

Minimum Qualifications:

 

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Engineering or related field of study, preferred

· 5+ Years of hands on experience in food manufacturing, bakery experience a plus

· Strong knowledge of Food Safety regulations, SQF experience a plus

· Software proficiency as it relates to general business functions

· Experience building a high-performance employee engagement culture

· Proficiency in department cost control, budget management, and financial acumen

· Collaborative work style; able to influence peer groups and other functional leaders

 

 

This is an excellent opportunity to use your resourcefulness, leadership and problem-solving skills to contribute to the efficient, systematic and profitable operation of our business. You will have approximately 4 direct reports and overall responsibility for a staff of approximately 75 team members in a non-union environment. You would be based out of our South Seattle area facility. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing and R&D.
