HR Generalist/ Recruiter

General Summary: The purpose of the Human Resources Generalist is to maintain compliance, provide administrative support by maintaining records, electronically, and physically, and support general day-to-day functions of the HR department including leading the recruiting efforts of the Warehouse and Transportation departments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides administrative support by maintaining and building files for all employees.
  • Processes all terminations to include exit interviews and unemployment claims.
  • Responsible for completing verification's of employment.
  • Administers the pre-employment process to include drug tests and all required background checks for the Warehouse and Transportation departments.
  • Responsible monthly Birthdays and Anniversary fliers.
  • Leads the recruiting efforts for all Warehouse and Transportation positions.
    1. Partners with hiring manager to determine staffing needs.
    2. Manages current candidate activity in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
    3. Screens resumes, interview candidates (by phone or in person), administer appropriate reference/background checking, make recommendations for hire (or not hire) and deliver employment offers for both exempt and non-exempt position.
    4. Uses traditional and non-traditional resources to identify and attract quality candidates such as career fairs, on-line job fairs, community network events, etc.
    5. Responsible for insuring a smooth process for internal transfer process including screening, coordination of interview with hiring manager, transfer offer letter, etc.
    6. Follows up with candidates and hiring managers to ensure updated information on the interview process status.
    7. Develops and maintain an excellent relationship with internal and external clients to ensure achievement of staffing goals.
  • Supports HR team on the coordination of onboarding and new hire orientation.
  • Supports HR team on benefit administration and communication to Team Members.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of employment law, state and federal, is essential to this position.
  • Strong skills in using Excel spreadsheets and other Microsoft suite programs required.
  • Ability to file, possesses organizational skills, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to make presentations to small groups.
  • Ability to counsel employees and management on a variety of subjects including company policy, benefits, and help employees with other issues, which may affect their work life.
  • Ability to be confidential and professional.
  • Ability to work well with other employees to foster a respectful and professional work environment.
