Cafe Manager Reports to Food & Beverage Operating Manager, General Manager and Executive Director Estimated Average 30 - 40 hours/wk | Non-exempt - $20/hr (+Tips) OVERVIEW The Alma Mater Cafe Manager role is an on-site role that oversees the day-to-day running of our cafe restaurant, The Patio. This individual will hire, train, and supervise caf staff, resolve customer complaints, work with the Food & Beverage Operations Manager in ordering caf supplies, and ensure that food health and safety regulations are adhered to. The Cafe Manager runs the cafe restaurant with attention to detail, creating a vibrant customer culture as well as a healthy team setting. They execute Alma Mater's standards and hold the team accountable while employing managerial skills that testify to their ability to exercise technical, conceptual, interpersonal, communication and decision-making. Responsibilities include day to day operations including overseeing inventory, supplies and scheduling, managing, motivating and training staff, and leading customer service and interaction by making recommendations based on customer preferences. The Cafe Manager will lead by example with a motivation to keep the cafe clean and presentable, and they should be flexible to work various shifts throughout the weekly schedule. Qualifications & Knowledge: • Able to operate a point of sale system/register • Computer knowledge, MS Word & Excel, G Suite • Basic understanding of inventory control • Basic math skills and cash handling procedures • Knowledge of basic staff training principles and employee scheduling • Food handlers card and a Washington State MAST permit • 2+ years of managerial experience a plus, but not required • Previous managerial experience preferred Duties: • Manage a team of employees to ensure consistent training, operational goals and food & beverage knowledge • Weekly meeting with shift leads: inventory overview, labor, sales, events, training, discipline, ordering. • Weekly Food & Beverage Manager meetings. • Bi-monthly all-staff meetings • Foodservice and Hospitality - Staff Management | participation in the hiring, promotions & disciplinary process - Writing & conducting bi-annual employee Performance Reviews - Front of House Training & Development | food running, ticket reading, register personality, POS troubleshooting, barbacking/floating, busing & customer service - Cleaning & Stocking Systems | daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly - Menu Maintenance | menu guides, talking points, tracking allergies, communication with Head Chef and Food & Beverage Operations Manager • Back End - Meet with F&B Operations Manager weekly for sales/labor overview and Cost of Goods (COG) tracking - Inventory | ordering and tracking - Point of Sale (POS)/Register and menu design and build - Employee scheduling with 7Shifts - Accountability | voids, comps, and staff shift meals are accounted for in POS - Oversight | monitoring employee time punches - Promotional Campaigns | communicating promotional needs to Marketing team - Cost Control | Understanding the cost of singular goods Please send a resume and cover letter to email@example.com We are seeking to fill this position on or by October 15th, 2020
