Job Description

Function 
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods to meet shipping schedules.
  2. Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  3. Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel.
  4. Directs movement of shipments from shipping platform to storage and work areas.
  5. Issues written and oral instructions.
  6. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  7. Maintains harmony among workers and resolve grievances.
  8. Prepares composite reports for individual reports of subordinates.
  9. Address and resolves errors and complaints.
  10. Will also perform other duties which might include; housekeeping-cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, picking up and taking out the trash, etc.
  11. May be designated, according to work volume to other departments when assigned or needed.
  12. Other job duties as assigned.


Essential Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Excellent Written/Verbal communication
  • Type 25 wpm
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Familiar with WMS, ISO, ESD, Hazmat, DOT, OSHA, different carrier requirements, EEO rules and regulations.

Education and/or Experience
1-2 years of experience as a supervisor in a warehouse environment.
