Who You Are

We are looking for a managing editor experienced in digital content creation to lead a talented team of editors, producers, and web production specialists. You will be responsible for helping them support other company departments, but primarily for publishing the very best SEO-driven content. The right candidate is detail oriented, comfortable working cross-functionally, holds themselves and their team to high standards, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of editors, video and web producers
  • Manage administrative aspects of employing freelance copywriters
  • Facilitate day-to-day content creation and remediation process, support editors to meet deadlines and create the best content possible
  • Oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy when necessary
  • Employ quality assurance so that all content is production ready
  • Maintain and enforce the Editorial Calendar, ASD and AP Style Guidelines, as well as SEO best practices
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives and maintain team documentation
  • Provide guidance on content and video strategy
  • Own and report on engagement metrics
  • Take on the role of Product Owner for the Content Scrum Team and work closely with the team Scrum Master. Help stakeholders create a plan of action and schedule of deliverables for each initiative. Work with other Product Owners and managers to determine priorities for cross-functional resources like Design or Business Intelligence
  • Align OKRs, core values, and common challenges with stakeholder needs to effectively communicate to the Content Team and across the organization

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience working in digital marketing, and producing web content in a continuous publishing environment
  • 2+ years experience managing a team of people, preferably a team including writers and/or editors
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and WordPress
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and/or Google Search Console
  • Ability to take ambiguous data and turn it into actionable insights
  • Exceptional writing and copyediting skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Comfortable with interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and emotional intelligence
  • Comfortable working on a small team in a fast-paced, flexible and sometime ambiguous environment
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating resources, including the ability to manage freelance resource.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with PowerBI (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Jira (preferred)
  • Experience working in an Agile framework, preferably Kanban or Scrum (preferred)
  • Experience at a lead generation and/or ecommerce company (preferred)
