Job Description Specialty: RN-Occupational Health/School Nurse Shift: Mon to Fri; 7:45am to 3:30pm, normal school hours Job Description Administer or monitor student medication as prescribed Monitor daily and weekly medication logs Insure the safe storage of medication Direct the protocols and monitor the accuracy of records Direct and monitor the use of Power School health and medication records Update and write new policies, as needed Maintain up to date student medical records including immunization records, medication orders, sending reminders to teachers when refills are due, reviewing first aide protocol, any related medical records necessary for providing care during the school day, identifying and share with staff any food allergies or other necessary information related to health conditions for all students Work with LEA to monitor IHPs Serves as resource to teachers for materials and methods Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team members and with parents Treat students for illness and injury, in person or in consultation Provide and/or direct any medically necessary treatments during the school day (i.e., medication administration, nebulizer treatments, glucose monitoring and insulin administration) Monitor or consult with staff regarding students following or during restraint/seclusion process Ensures program compliance with federal, state, and jurisdictional regulations related to health needs of students Follow state and local regulations regarding reporting communicable diseases and provide ongoing monitoring, education, and support as needed Consult with local and state health department professionals regarding communicable disease concerns when issues arise Monitor any protocols as defined by jurisdictions(i.e. Influenza) Attend meetings regarding student health needs as requested, to include, but not limited to Individual Education Plan meetings Facilitate or arrange first aide training for all staff; First Aid, Universal Precautions, COVID, Etc. Facilitate or arrange MATY training for designated staff.
