Work with Clients Market System team developing features and components for Clients next generation Market Clearing Engine, a key component of our cloud-based solution that hosts multi-state wholesale energy markets. These markets are key to decarbonizing our power system by ensuring reliability while allowing increasing penetration of Solar, Wind and Storage technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Work on a team in a fast-paced agile development environment implementing cloud-based software in a Java development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
• Implement User Stories by developing and enhancing features in java following GE Digital's SDLC and Quality guidelines
• Refine and breakdown User Stories with the team and develop software design for implementation
• Troubleshoot, debug and fix issues reported in existing software, leveraging your understanding of power and market systems
• Develop unit and automated tests to validate your software as it is developed
• Embrace the world-class level of quality in all work that enables delivery of enterprise-class software to support the electrical network and literally keeps the lights on
• Practice and promote continuous improvement in both individual and team activities
• Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables
• Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
• Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
• Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using technology chosen

Education Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum 4 years of experience

Desired Characteristics/Technical Expertise:

• Master’s Degree/ PHD in Computer Science
• Experience with Java, Spring-Boot and cloud development
• Experience working on software projects in the Energy domain (especially Bulk Power Energy Management Systems)
• Certified Scrum Master and/or Product Owner

Business Acumen:

• Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
• Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
• Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
• Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices

Leadership:

• Ability to takes ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members
• Ensures understanding of issues and presents clear rationale. Able to speak to mutual needs and win-win solutions. Uses two-way communication to influence outcomes and ongoing results
