Algolia is seeking an innovative Senior Manager of Creative & Design Services with 10+ years of experience in creative roles serving start-up and technology businesses with 4+ years managing teams competence. This role is responsible for leading the development, execution and continued evolution of Algolia's evolving creative vision and brand internally and externally, and ensuring they are executed to the highest standards.
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Communications and Brand, the Senior Manager of Creative Services will drive processes and practices for realizing that vision and awareness, and will set the bar for high quality ensuring an industry leadership position. This person will drive the development of brand definition and UX experience principles, and ensure that those are appropriately interpreted through the creative team's work and implemented across the company.
The Senior Manager of Creative Services should be naturally drawn to fast-moving action. They are an expert at establishing the visual identity and emotion of brands such that they stand out in crowded marketplaces. They understand that an integrated marketing campaign is more than just a stand-alone digital ad or landing page. Their marketing campaigns and websites draw people in. They have a strong point-of-view that draws attention while remaining distinctly on-brand and on-message. The Senior Manager of Creative Services is an artist and makes brand stories come to life.
As importantly, the Senior Manager of Creative Services orchestrates all of the creative arts together with a remote team - design, graphics, video, copy, and more - to create a compelling overall composition. They have effectively managed teams to exceptional success on tight timelines. They are a results-driven leader who continuously applies their expertise to improve business performance.
While this role will be remote (and manage a remote team), the ideal candidate will be located on the East Coast of North America.
YOUR ROLE WILL CONSIST OF:
- Manage Algolia's brand to ensure that our value proposition is effectively communicated and resonates with target audiences, drives awareness and desired responses.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across functions, including Marketing, Product, Engineering, Sales and the People team to understand the unique tenets of our brand and help shape it.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external creative agencies, vendors, freelancers, and partners to ensure a consistent quality of work
- Oversee traffic management to ensure all internal and external design requests are consistent with the brand and delivered on time.
- Support content strategy and distribution across channels, including the website, demand generation, events, social media, email, blog, and PR activations.
- Collaborate with all internal and external creative partners: agencies, designers, copywriters, and internal stakeholders to ensure we create a consistent, strong, differentiated creative platform that brings our brand to life.
- Strong, relevant design portfolio showcasing a variety of projects (digital, print, video, ...).
- Professional maturity, flexibility, proactive working style, and accountability.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects for all levels of clients (from designers to executives to marketing leads) while managing top to bottom cross-functional creative campaigns with multiple stakeholders and digital outputs.
- Proven project management skills and agile multi-tasker with the ability to own problem areas and drive projects to completion.
- Strong understanding of design, copywriting, art direction, video production, and other creative disciplines.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Desire and aptitude to nurture and mentor junior art directors and designers providing guidance, support, and opportunities for growth and development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut, Asana, Jira project management, and other design applications.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree required in Graphic or Visual Communication Design, Advertising, or related field with at least 10+ years of experience and 4+ years of management experience.
- Preference for candidates with experience at our current stage and beyond (over 10,000 customers, $50-200M ARR range, high growth, lots of change and building internal infrastructure).
