Summary

The Director of Marketing will lead the content marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, digital strategy, social media, and creative efforts at Alerian. As a small and rapidly growing firm, we’re looking for a self-directed individual who can develop, execute, and monitor the firm’s overall marketing and brand strategy. The ideal candidate is a strong, agile decision maker who is willing to experiment and quickly to adapt to changing business landscapes. Must be able to effectively communicate in a cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

· Increase the firms overall brand awareness and positioning as a thought leader in the indexing space

· Liaison with executive team to determine and shape the company’s brand and public image

· Plan, execute, and monitor the company’s overall marketing strategy, including oversight of all communications and public relations, events, content development, content distribution/advertising, Website, social media and email campaigns

· Responsible for the overall firm brand; including working closely with leadership and design to implement new brand, with creating new brand guidelines and execution on a complete firm rebrand

· Work closely with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to provide marketing support to key clients including press releases, marketing collateral, and tailored to-go-market strategies to meet objectives

· Ensure all external communications and collateral are aligned in messaging and project the company’s unique “voice”

· Set goals, objectives, and KPIs for the marketing team, as well as track/report KPIs on a regular basis via dashboards

· Develop integrated campaigns to increase traffic to the company’s website and support lead generation

· Determine, allocate, and optimize marketing & advertising budget

· Analyze campaign performance metrics to maximize return on marketing dollar investment

· Articulate the company’s vision, business model, and growth strategies to the media, external agencies, and partners

· Provide strategic direction and feedback to external agencies developing creative assets for advertising campaigns (print, digital, television, social media)

· Collaborate with external PR agency on strategies to increase earned media coverage

· Conduct market research and stay current on competitor positioning

· Develop and build an effective in-house marketing and brand team

· Build a network of external agencies and strategic partnerships

Skills & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Business Administration, Advertising or related field

· 10+ years of direct brand management or marketing experience

· Prior experience in financial services preferred

· Analytical skills; hands on experience with CRM and SEO tools (Google Analytics, Google Adwords, HubSpot, SalesForce)

· Proven skills in coaching, motivating, and promoting teamwork

· Strategic planning experience

· Excellent interpersonal acumen with the ability to interact positively with staff, co-workers, and management

· High standards with the ability to be assertive when required

· Capacity to self-manage deadlines

· Robust verbal and written skills
