Summary
The Quality Asst Supervisor leads the Quality staff in the day to day quality operations of the facility. Develops and maintains standards, database information and reporting, defect identification, defect trending, and leads efforts to identify root cause and corrective actions for internal quality escapes. Ensures the successful execution of directing resources to significantly improving product quality, departmental performance, and reducing costs.
Role and Responsibilities
- Performs steps necessary to approve production lots for release to ship including 1st off line burn testing.
- Performs tracking and communication of burn approvals for wax and fragrances.
- Reviews and communicates approval of burn sheets real time to manufacturing and planning.
- Manages a sample process to insure correct labeling information on raw materials, labels, products and containers.
- Communicates with manager/Supervisor and vendors to request documentation (standards, certificates of analysis, etc.) and answer questions as needed.
- Performs inspections of finished goods as required.
- Ensures incoming inspection criteria defined, communicated, and documented. Assists incoming inspection technicians as required.
- Provides guidance on quality assurance standards to all departments as required.
- Provides day to day oversight and guidance to in process and end of line inspections. Will be involved in data collection and trend reporting.
- Keeps track of standards received.
- Keeps track of lab samples received.
- Trains new Quality Staff
- Maintain Alene standards of performance and comply with housekeeping, safety policies and procedures.
- Leads and participated in lean and 5S initiatives
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager/Supervisor.
- Maintain Quality database and reporting.
- Manages ship release and IFS approvals, COO, & Deviations.
- Direct communication to customer should be done with the direction of the Quality Manager Only
Education required
- Associates degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science or related technical discipline is preferred.
- ERP experience is a plus
- Six Sigma and Lean knowledge a plus
Range of Experience:
- Minimum of 1 years related experience and/or training in a supervisory role.
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent team building and communications skills
- Ability to work accurately, with interruptions, to meet deadlines.
- Knowledgeable in statistical process control.
- Knowledgeable in the concepts of LEAN Manufacturing and 5S
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Ability to do analysis, draw conclusions, makes recommendations.
- Previous process industries experience a plus such as food or cosmetics.
- Ability to work without close supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or touch; reach, talk, hear and smell. The employee may be required to, kneel, crouch, sit, climb or balance. The employee may lift and/or move up to more than 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and aromas. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in a related field
- 1-2 years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory required
- Ability to use various machines and practical skills.
- Good communication skills to deliver valuable teamwork. (Must understand English language)
- Able to follow and execute instructions.
