SUMMARY:

AC Transit's Human Resources (Employee Relations) department has an immediate opening for an intern who is a current full-time graduate student. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for a student with significant coursework in business administration, human resources, industrial/organizational psychology or a related discipline. The candidate chosen for this position will not only get excellent paid work experience, but also have exposure to on-the-job experience in a variety of areas within the human resources discipline. This position is open to graduate students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program and can dedicate up to 20 hours during the business week at the District's downtown Oakland office.

REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS:

Developing analytical tools to study Talent Management (TM) trends to aid in the development of our current leaders.
Researching industry tools, concepts, methodologies, and theories that align with overall department and business imperatives and presenting those findings.
Assisting with the implementation of Human Resources related programs such Onboarding, Employee Recognition and Employee Engagement.
Performing analytics and supporting the implementation of interventions that improve our overall retention and employee engagement.
Provide administrative support to assist with HR initiatives and processes.
Maintaining accurate data in the HR information system, escalating issues as needed.
Recommending and providing feedback on how to improve various HR processes.
Supporting external and internal audits.
Collaborating with business partners, including marketing strategists, creative designers, and technologists.
Perform other tasks to fit your professional skills and interests and our ever-shifting needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

College graduate student studying human resources, business administration, public administration, or related field. Must be enthusiastic about working with the public. Should be organized, flexible, and able to take direction from multiple team members. Standout qualities include:

Experience:Basic skills with MS Word, Excel. Previous professional work experience is not required.

Physical Requirements:
Must maintain the physical condition necessary to perform tasks in an office setting operating a personal computer, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment. Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.

Vaccination Requirement for Candidates Seeking Employment:Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District has implemented a requirement that requires all candidates for District employment to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, including variants, prior to being employed by the District, subject to limited exceptions. The Alameda Contra Costa Transit District has established the goal of a 100 percent drug and alcohol-free workplace.
