We are currently hiring a Director of Facilities and Engineering.

The Position: The Director of Facilities and Engineering will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for management of a multi-discipline team to deliver reliable engineering and construction services across Aktiv sites. The ideal candidate will provide strong stakeholder management and influencing skills and will interact with all levels of the organization ensuring competing priorities are managed objectively and in line with the overall business strategy. This individual will also drive project management practices and embedding a culture of project execution and delivery.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Accountable for governance of company facilities project portfolio. This position will leverage Aktiv tools and methodologies as well as industry best practice to deliver improvements and portfolio performance. The position will be responsible for the coaching, training, and implementation of these skills throughout Aktiv.
  • Leads the development of the Site Master Plans and associated facility development and integrates requirements into a 5-year strategic capital plan for the Sites.
  • Develops and implements the PMO strategy, policies, and procedures to support project/program portfolio management processes and execution.
  • Coordinates communication of portfolio decisions and translates impact effectively to a wide audience across the organization. Escalates to management when decision rights exceed established boundaries.
  • Maintains a central repository for all agreed site projects.
  • Maintains complete equipment, building, and infrastructure documentation including up-to-date drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and maintenance records.
  • Facilitates resource loading analysis to provide information and direction to leadership on balance of project workload to available resources.
  • Identifies and anticipates conflicts or issues relating to engineering project Portfolio. Leads positive conflict and issue resolution.
  • Communicates roadmaps, progress, risks, mitigation plans, and impacts to senior management and internal cross-functional and remote project teams. Steer teams based on business objectives, and continuously align teams to those objectives, in the face of ambiguity and aggressive deadlines.
  • Ensures a high level of Safety and Quality compliance standards for regulatory agencies audits and inspections.
  • Responsible for management and oversight of all outsourced F&E service contracts (Calibrations, Drawing Management, Blue Mountain compliance) and associated productivity programs. Maintains adequate service governance for delivery of these contracts to the required standard.
  • Develops, maintains, and justifies the departments' budgets based on current and future business drivers.
  • Engages Development engineering and manages the interfaces between these teams and F&E partners (Plant Engineering and Validation).
  • Continuously reviews and improves engineering processes and systems to ensure continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness, and evaluates the need for changes. Develop metrics to support industry benchmarking to drive performance.
  • Collaborate to support prioritization of projects, clearly identifying business priorities, and scope to determine project requirements.
  • Responsible for driving retrospectives that incorporate lessons learned from previous projects to instill a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Creates, establishes and maintains an environment that encourages a strong culture of teamwork, accountability and commitment.
  • Responsible for all construction projects and supporting partners for all facilities

Job Qualifications

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • The priority competencies for this individual are a high focus on systems, safety and compliance and an ability to maintain communication and strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Project Management (PMP, IPMA, Prince 2 Practitioner an advantage)
  • Strong knowledge of combination product/aseptic operations cGMP and experience delivering services in a 24hr manufacturing facility.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to mentor, coach and effectively transfer expertise to others.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead effectively in highly matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify risk and react appropriately and make effective decisions in challenging circumstances.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and effectively communicate trade-offs and consequences of prioritization.

Experience and Education:
  • Master's degree in engineering, Facilities and Management plus 6 years of directly related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Facilities and Management plus 10 years of directly related experience.
  • Within experience must have 5 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, and programs or directing the allocation of resources.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
  • Must have reliable transportation. Currently have multiple locations.
