Akelius is seeking an experienced Energy and Sustainability manager to join the team.

The successful candidate will ensure sustainability targets set for the Construction Department are met.
They will work with the energy and sustainability team to establish process and provide best practices to create value within the environmental pillar of ESG.

This role requires active collaboration with the Finance Department sustainability team, Operations, Technology, and Business departments in order to achieve Akelius sustainability targets over the coming years.

  • lead the energy inspection process helping construction managers and energy managers to identify and propose new energy projects
  • lead the health, safety, and environmental inspection process to ensure the portfolio keeps on track with environmental targets
  • collaborate with internal quality auditor for sustainability audits


  • carry out necessary energy and sustainability inspections of potential new acquisitions
  • assist in the oversight of the completion of the smart meter installations
  • work closely with Finance Department sustainability team to ensure targets and projects are aligned


  • provide oversight reporting to Energy and Sustainability lead to show targets are being met
  • collaborate with Technology Department to implement and develop energy applications
  • provide support to junior Energy and Sustainability analyst


  • plan and implement measures with asset management and construction teams
  • measure and verify savings from implemented measures
  • explore new renewable and low carbon technologies


  • support the development of efficiency guidelines and standards
  • assist with the annual company sustainability report, Standard & Poor audits, and any other energy related reports
  • prepare and conduct training for staff and new hires


  • perform other related duties as necessary
who you are
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, and or building science
  • LEED, WELL, or other building certifications preferred


  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent, is preferred
  • a passion for green solutions, sustainability, and smart buildings
  • knowledge of energy management and renewable energy


  • experience in building services Construction management is an advantage
  • well-organized, pro-active, adaptable, hardworking, and intuitive with good interpersonal skills
  • outside-of-box thinking


  • motivated individual who can work individually and as part of a wider team
  • good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • able to contribute to the development of the department


  • ability to prioritize and co-ordinate tasks efficiently to meet deadlines
  • able to maintain a positive attitude towards routine tasks
  • enjoys working autonomously and as part of a wider team
