Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Location: Chanhassen, MN

Time Requirements: Full-time with flexible working hours

Experience: 3-15+ years as an mechanical drafter; individuals that feel their skills align with the requirements and possess ambition for career growth are encouraged to apply.

Job Purpose: Personnel will function as key team member in the mechanical design of equipment for our MOCVD and government research projects. Responsibilities include design and documentation of new parts, revision changes to existing parts, and creation of BOMs for complex assemblies. Lots of future growth opportunity.

About This Position: Agnitron offers a fast pace, exciting, small-business work environment where the mechanical designer will need to have the ability to balance many different activities while working quickly with a high level of precision. Mechanical drafters will spend time split among the following major activities:

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as key member in new mechanical design conceptualization
  • New part design and documentation
  • Revision changes to existing parts / assemblies
  • Creation of BOMs for welded / purchased assemblies
  • Calculate tight tolerances for closely positioned moving parts
  • Determine close dimensions using measurement instruments reverse engineering legacy parts
  • Review and modify designs to reduce production deficiencies
  • Coordinate with other colleagues regarding complex assemblies
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures
  • Assembly of complex mechanical components into industrial equipment

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an Mechanical Drafter
  • Solidworks Experience
  • Familiarity with C&C machining capabilities and 3D printing designs
  • Familiarity with CAD or other related software
  • Deadline focused and precision detail-oriented
  • Understanding of FEA analysis
  • Familiarity with technical drawings
  • General mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to handle physical workload

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Understanding and calculation of thermal expansion
  • Work experience in Vacuum design
  • General understanding of material properties
  • Mechanical Assembly / Technician work experience
  • Mechanical Design school training

The ideal applicant will be highly organized, detail oriented, and energetic with ambition to learn and take on new responsibilities and grow.

Education Preferment: Associate degree preferred.

Compensation: $46,000.00+ annual compensation that will be scaled up based on relevant experience. Insurance and PTO benefits available after initial waiting period.
