Job Description

 

General Responsibilities

  • Manages both the capital projects and maintenance for company sites
  • Dealing directly with contractors/vendors
  • Directing, training and developing maintenance mechanics for assigned area/shift.
  • Using problem solving skills to resolve and/or mitigate maintenance issues.
  • Identifying opportunities to eliminate cost and/or waste through observation and analysis.
  • Identifying, implementing and documenting maintenance and reliability best practices.
  • Helping the Production Management Team develop a culture of cooperation
  • Collaborates with Production Management Team to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Utilizes mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds.
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Remains current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
  • Ensures corporate policies and standards are followed in both capital project implementation as well as daily maintenance.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in a food manufacturing/production environment as a maintenance/engineering manager
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Must be very knowledgeable with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications.
  • Must be knowledgeable in union matters and have at least 5 years experience working in a unionized facility.
  • Must be knowledgeable in OSHA requirements and regulations.
  • Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
  • Ability to select, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of mechanics.
  • Must have experience with Capital project with starting up manufacturing facilities
