Chocolate Factory General Manager

  • Manage all operations of the manufacturing facility with primary focus on cost productivity, product quality, client service, and safety
  • Manage production (kitchen, molding, enrobing, forming and other processes as they are added in the future) including packing areas to ensure that products are delivered to meet company’s standards
  • Develop and plan production schedules to ensure staffing needs are efficiently and continuously met
  • Ensure facility maintenance is up to standards and equipment remains in working order, including operating to manufacturers safe specifications with a regular preventative maintenance program in place
  • Review all variable and overhead costs to achieve operating plan targets, work with plant Controller on budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing product cost validation
  • Implement 5S/lean/six sigma principles in the production environment and lead continuous improvement effort
  • Ensure quality assurance and food safety standards are continuously met while maintaining all FISMA required regulations
  • Oversee and/or conduct all purchasing activities ensuring that materials are ordered and received to secure production schedule deadlines; build and maintain vendor relationships
  • Manage all contract manufacturing relationships, including purchases of non-manufactured stocked products
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of warehouse and inventory management
  • Oversee all order fulfillment activities, including all of shipping and receiving to ensure that fulfilled orders are delivered according to customers’ needs
  • Establish and maintain customer service standards
  • Manage all vendor contracts and related outside services
  • Establish and maintain appropriate policies and procedures; hold team members accountable to standards, including the implementation of KPIs across all departments
  • Train and mentor direct reports to achieve consistently high levels of team performance; appraise employee performance; recommend salary and other employment actions
  • Support all sales and marketing initiatives as needed
  • Develops and continuously improves seasonal product offerings based on data analysis, market trends and business needs; facilitates and supports rollouts for new products
  • Conducts quarterly line reviews on products
  • Attend trades shows to represent the Company and its products
  • Support all sales and marketing initiatives as needed
  • Lead and/or participate in key projects and initiatives
  • Other duties as required

· 10+ years’ experience managing people, processes, and equipment in a manufacturing environment

· Strong preference for previous experience in the food manufacturing industry

· Previous experience supporting retail operations is a plus

  • SQF and HACCP Certifications required
  • Experience maintaining, working with and using manufacturing machinery
  • Proficient with MS Office products
  • Mathematical aptitude, with the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Ability to train, maintain and promote a safe work environment
  • Must be experienced and skilled in managing across multiple departments (i.e., sales, marketing, maintenance, quality assurance, inventory and warehouse management, distribution, etc.)
  • Demonstrated results in process management and improvement strategies and implementation (e.g., 5S, LEAN thinking, OEE, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable of regulatory requirements for a manufacturing facility (i.e., OSHA, EPA, FDA)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively through all levels of the organization
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet assigned deadlines
