SUMMER INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE AT AFFINITY FCU!

We are seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our growing organization for exciting, educational and fulfilling summer internship opportunities. Intern will be expected to learn the ins-and-outs of our daily routines and procedures. You will focus on learning how our organization runs. Internship hours of 30-40 hours/a week during summer months.

General Intern Requirements and Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program to receive credit.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
• Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.

Position Summary: Fraud Intern

The Fraud Intern will assist the Risk Operations team in identifying irregular activities/transactions in order to minimize loss of assets of Affinity and to prevent fraudulent activity on Member Accounts. Leads the documentation of procedures with regards to loss prevention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs daily review of all Account Fraud Alerts generated in VERAFIN (our Anti-Fraud/Money Laundering application for the purpose of identifying suspicious or fraudulent activity.
• Conducts security related investigations and files appropriate civil or criminal complaints to effect recovery of fraud related losses.
• Review and perform verification on suspect items to mitigate fraud.
• Assists in researching and responding to all subpoenas received by our Credit Union (civil and/or criminal) including National Security Letters received from the federal government.
• Assists in documenting current procedures for Fraud Prevention and communicate alternative/more effective procedures to help mitigate risk to Affinity.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in business, finance, criminal justice, and criminology. GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
• Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational, follow-up and problem-solving skills.
• Must be detailed oriented.
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to write with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
