Description

The Staff Accountant's responsibilities include posting transactions, reconciling account balances, maintaining the general ledger, and participating in the month-end close procedures. Other duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all our accounting tasks. This role will play an enormously important supportive role within the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reports to help the company achieve strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions;
  • Supports month-end and year-end close process;
  • Prepares account reconciliations; records appropriate entries after compiling and analyzing account information;
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies;
  • Assists in the preparation of required financial reporting;
  • Provides input into department's goal-setting process;
  • Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures;
  • Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Tasks:

  • Month-end close: reconciliations, posting of entries, review of records to ensure proper posting;
  • Invoicing: assist in invoicing process; distribute posted invoices to customers; resolve invoicing discrepancies; improve invoicing procedures through better utilization of Navision (ERP) system;
  • Sales Tax: utilize Avalara systems to manage customer exemption certs; reconcile monthly/annual revenue for purpose of filing tax returns;
  • Cash Management: reconcile subsidiary ledgers for customer accounts receivable and vendor accounts payable

Education:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred and/or equivalent job experience

Experience:

  • At least 2- to 3 years of related experience

Computer Skills:

  • Windows, Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel Skills, and Navision is a plus
