AeroFarms is looking to hire an Associate General Counsel in Newark NJ to support our global operations as part of our corporate team.

As AeroFarms approaches our next phase of explosive growth, we seek out creative, motivated humans who will join us in disrupting industry standards and lead the way in vertical farming, artificial intelligence, and plant biology breakthroughs to solve and tackle global issues.

We are looking for an Associate General Counsel to join the AeroFarms team as we start to scale around the US and world. This role will report to the General Counsel and the ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law within the state of New York and New Jersey. 

Skills & Experience 

  • Responsible for drafting and negotiating all types of commercial agreements.
  • Commercial contract review experience: MSA’s, vendor agreements, NDA’s, employment agreements etc
  • Ability to handle labor and employment issues where necessary.
  • Experience with deal structuring, M&A, joint ventures, and financing is essential.
  • Prior work with compliance programs and intellectual property portfolios is desired. 
  • Direct responsibility for Procurement and Finance & Accounting internal clients.   
  • Preparation of presentations as required for special projects requested by management. 
  • Ability to supervise outside counsel on litigation matters and legal budgets.

Required Experience/Education 

  • 5+ years’ experience.
  • Graduated from a highly ranked US law school.
  • Mix of large law firm and in-house practice is a must, with preferred AGC experience. 
  • Experience providing legal counsel to a publicly traded company is highly desired, having taken a company public would be an added bonus.

Required Attributes
Demonstrated level of accomplishment on transactions; experience reviewing and drafting contracts and negotiating various kinds of commercial agreements.  Extraordinary interpersonal skills and a passion for mission driven and entrepreneurial companies.

We follow all COVID-19 Guidelines. This role can be expected to be 90% remote with infrequent office meetings at corporate Headquarters in Newark for the time being.
