Job Description


  • Provide supervision to hourly maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain overtime and call-in lists per the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Coordinates the planning and scheduling of day to day jobs as well as all outage work, shutdown and PM events.
  • Schedules jobs on a daily and weekly basis using the CMMS work order system.
  • Ability to work with vendors in establishing price contracts and part number designations for standard inventoried items.
  • In conjunction with the Repair Parts Specialist, Initiates purchase requisitions through fusion reports and order point processing for required goods and services.
  • Ensure high failure rate items are identified, part numbered and stocked by location.
  • Must comply with all State, Federal, Local and company rules and regulations relating to safety.
  • Use the Adaptive Coaching process for communication, goal alignment, problem solving and career planning.
  • Works with maintenance management team to optimize the mixes of: planned and scheduled work, scheduled (but not planned) work, and unscheduled work. Planned maintenance activities need to be established along with priorities.
  • Analyzes work orders by size, urgency, skill set, location, complexity, and available manpower. Establishes priorities in cooperation with Maintenance Advisor and Operations Managers ensuring maximum equipment availability/up time .
  • Checks time and cost estimates for work orders and jobs with vendors to optimize resource allocation.
  • Performs annual review of preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure work order system library contains correct frequencies and balanced 12 month schedules for all trades, contractors and vendors. Determines appropriate predictive maintenance tasks with assist from supervisors.
  • Enter PM work tasks in CMMS including language describing the LOTO. The PM and Predictive work tasks (PDM) will become the heart of the maintenance program. Assist supervisors with PM entries where needed.
  • Review and analyze delays in schedules, expedite any work activities requiring work packages that delay schedules and coordinate schedule changes needed. Work closely with supervisors and others to stage materials, permits, subcontractors, tools, and other resources necessary to accomplish the work in the most productive manner possible.
  • Provide leadership to the maintenance team and plant-wide involvement groups in order to drive continuous improvement in the facility.
  • Promote teamwork approach among the department employees and across departments. Accomplish required duties through cooperative efforts with maximum employee participation in decision making.
  • Acts as a back up to the Maintenance Manager, and will help supervise and conduct regularly scheduled team meetings to share information, discuss problems, prioritize opportunities, resolve conflicts and develop team building.
  • Support after hours may be necessary to support production operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed:

  • High school degree required /Bachelor’s and/or Technical Degree preferred.
  • 3 - 5 Years' Supervisory Experience in manufacturing directly managing front line staff
  • Strong communication and planning skills, ability to speak to all levels within an organization
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, production planning and reporting software, etc.
  • Progressive Leadership and Change Management Skills
  • Understands Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools for root cause problem solving
  • Strong Organization skills require to be able to initiate and sustain 5s and safety performance.
  • Able to work in a diverse working environment and adapt leadership style to team needs
