Hours: 3:00 pm to 3:00 am, including rotating weekends
Status: Part Time (two 12-hour shifts a week)
- Certified Nurse AssistantOR Nursing Student with first clinical completed OR Paramedic OR LPN with current IL license.
- Plus one year work experience preferred in computers, variety of programs, and data bases.
- Good communication skills.

- Proficient computer skills.
- Basic Life Support Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to patient~focused care.

- Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50 lbs. may be required).

- This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated.
- Ability to successfully complete hospital based training for EMR.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
The NCT II position is a combination of the NCT I and the Unit Information Secretary roles and serves to assist in providing quality patient care in a manner which is patient focused, technically appropriate and cost effective. The Nursing Care Technician works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse in accordance with the standards of practice, within the guidelines of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and the mission and philosophy of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
The NCT works in collaboration with the registered nurse as a partner in care of patients. The NCT recognizes the needs and behaviors of patients and various age groups and provides care in a manner that is age appropriate. The NCT strives for quality patient care which assures the customer is treated in a holistic manner with dignity and respect.
The Unit Information Secretary serves to facilitate unit operations through accurate oversight and effective management of patients' medical records (electronic and non~electronic), coordination of services, supplies and the appropriate transcription of written orders. Serves as healthcare representative for the team when in direct contact with patients families an other external contacts.
Performs activities related to the utilization, maintenance, and support of the clinical electronic medical record (Care Connection/CPOE). Provides education and trouble~shooting support to professional clinical users (i.e., physicians, nurses, and other clinical and ancillary support members of the healthcare team) to promote efficiency and excellence in the delivery of quality patient care. Facilitates timely and high quality resolution of issues presented by fellow team members and escalates issues and requests for information to appropriate parties.
Responsible for performance development and growth of job skills within the changing health care environment.
Provides general patient care duties that are specific to the patient population served as directed by the registered nurse.
Ensures accurate and effective management of the patient's medical records to promote coordination of patient care and optimal coordination of the plan of care
Establishes and maintains positive customer relations
