We are seeking an Editorial/Office Assistant to join our awesome team! Is your inner child alive and well? Are you a self-proclaimed geek? Do you thrive on a fast-paced environment and have a fun, quirky voice all your own?
Adventure Media and Events seeks a full-time, entry-level editorial/office assistant to create original content for its print publications, websites, and social media channels. The ideal candidate has a strong background in journalism and has a strong voice with lots of energy!
This position is primarily an office assistant position with plenty of room for growth in the editorial area for the right candidates. Job functions include a variety of administrative duties, but, most importantly, a very high level of responsibility for prepping products for media segments. Additional duties include answering the phones, coordinating shipments, tracking inventory, ordering office supplies, mailing invoices, and greeting and assisting onsite guests.
We are looking for a very organized, motivated individual who can meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines and who can multi-task. Applicants should be experienced in feature writing, copy editing, InDesign, Wordpress, AP style, and all major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Editorial responsibilities include writing articles and news items for toyinsider.com, toybook.com, and popinsider.com. Editors will also contribute to the Toy Book, and The Pop Insider print magazines, copy edit work from their peers, and complete editorial page layouts. Experience being on camera is a plus, but not necessary.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in English or journalism. Please submit a resume and cover letter that clearly expresses what you can contribute to the Adventure Publishing/Toy Insider team. Please include writing and layout samples if available. An interest in toys and geek culture is absolutely mandatory.
This job is fun, but it is highly challenging. You must be a motivated, intensely organized individual hungry for growth. But, enough with the heavy. We write about toys and superheroes all day, what's not to love?
In your cover letter, be sure to tell us which Game of Thrones or Avengers character you'd bring back from the dead and why.
