NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Pharmacy Technician, under direct supervision of a pharmacist, assists with the daily provision of pharmaceutical services to NuFACTOR’s patients in accordance with state/federal/regulatory agency laws, regulations, and guidelines.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

All Pharmacy Technician Level 1 principal accountabilities.

Demonstrate understanding of NuFACTOR’s medications, supplies, durable medical equipment and their uses in addition to the scope of services provided by NuFACTOR.

Respond to routine calls/emails/orders, demonstrating an ability to resolve minor or common problems and/or discrepancies.

Proficient in pharmacy information system as it relates to order entry process with minimal errors.

Proficient in pulling medications, supplies and durable medical equipment (DME) with minimal errors.

Process routine orders without relying on peers, manuals or other written documents.

Recognize normal dosage ranges and notifies appropriate staff of any irregularities.

Proven attendance record.

Participate in annual and mid-year pharmacy inventories.

Conduct special projects as requested by management.

Assist in creating and/or updating departmental policies and procedures as necessary.

Display a consistent positive and professional attitude with all levels of employees and internal and external customers.

Take a proactive approach to tasks and have the ability to multi-task well.

Continuously strive to improve processes, service quality to internal and external customers.

Comply with the policies and procedures stated in the Injury and Illness Prevention Program by always working in a safe manner and immediately reporting any injury, safety hazard, or program violation.

Ensure conduct is consistent with all Compliance Program Policies and procedures when engaging in any activity on behalf of the Company; immediately report any concerns or violations.

Display dedication to the position responsibilities and achieve assigned goals and objectives.

Attend job-related trainings and seminars as requested.

Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

All Pharmacy Technician Level 1 knowledge, skills and abilities.

Demonstrate moderate level of knowledge about the medications, supplies, durable medical equipment and their uses in addition to the scope of services provided by NuFACTOR.

Basic knowledge of inventory process including ordering and receiving.

Demonstrates a systematic problem solving approach in resolving routine discrepancies such as incorrect/missing supplies on patient orders and calculating factor assays based on the prescription and current factor availability.

Functions under close supervision and guidance; generally follows established procedures and process although may exercise some independent judgment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with patients, co-workers and management.

Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy in an organized, detail oriented manner with appropriate follow up when required.

Ability to prioritize work and make decisions independently and effectively, often quickly in response to dynamic patient needs, with limited supervision and direction, except where required/restricted by law.

Working knowledge of state, federal and Joint Commission guidelines/regulations/laws.

Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality to the level of required HIPAA standards.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Intermediate to advanced understanding of Internet technologies.

Represent the Company in a professional manner and appearance at all times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time as well as walk, stoop, bend, kneel. In addition, must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects as well as reach with hands and arms including above shoulder level. Also required to frequently lift up to 30 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.

LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

Certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and must meet ongoing continuing education requirements to maintain certification.

Full, current and unrestricted pharmacy technician license in the State that the pharmacy is located.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of 12 months experience as NuFACTOR Pharmacy Technician Level 1 or 2 years of experience as pharmacy technician preferably in home healthcare, infusion related or hospital setting.
