Position Summary:
Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers to support and improve manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues, performing and documenting fixtures and equipment
maintenance, and updating process documentation.
This position is being created to provide additional Engineering technician support for our Metering Set COE. Candidates should have strong machining, programming, and troubleshooting skills on HMC, VMC and/or mill turn machines. The ideal candidate will have had experience in cutting tool specification and design and a working knowledge of modern contact and non- contact gaging methods.
Candidate must be willing to enroll in NYS Manufacturing Engineering Technician Apprenticeship program. In addition to relevant experience this requires 576 hours of related instruction, the equivalent of an associate degree in a technical field.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and maintain moderately complex manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers, and soliciting observations from operators/production technicians.
- Prepares written and graphical work instructions for the communication of manufacturing requirements to production personnel.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Assures process control and reliability for assigned areas. Coordinates input and recommendations and implements changes that may cross multiple teams or areas.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements.
- Recommends changes to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production.
- May keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures, and requesting special service.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Engineering, or two-year Technical School Degree.
- Five years related experience, trade or military training, or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities and strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and policies and recommend changes to procedures.
- Fundamental knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles and concepts and general business operations.
- Fundamental knowledge of lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.
- General knowledge of aerospace industry or similar industry products and legal and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing environments.
- Possesses interpersonal skills adequate for frequent interface with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management.
- Ability to respond to inquiries and/or address issues from team members, team leaders, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement, quality, design, or test engineering).
