Accounting Specialist - Senior Level

  • $50 - $60 per hour
  • Contract through about 12 months - with possible extension
  • All positions require - Background check

This position will work closely with R&D, Finance Corporate Departments and Global teams at the Climate Corporation as necessary to carry our day-to-day activities, including more complex in nature ad hoc financial reporting activities

Position Duties – working with stakeholders/other departments to execute financial reporting; prepare journal entries for areas of responsibilities; Researching/collaborating as needed to obtain the necessary insights for subjective areas of accounting assigned to him/her; Prepare reporting as assigned utilizing team members/internal clients/supporting work papers to accomplish such tasks; Participate in general ledger and reporting projects as assigned to support the ongoing needs of the department by pulling on team members, internal clients as necessary to accomplish assigned responsibilities; Maintain/Update financial reports, looking proactively for areas of improvement; Prepare Software adhoc Quarterly reports

Requirements/Preferences:

Education Minimum Requirement Bachelors Degree Skills & Competency Requirements Accounting degree /

CPA, 4 or mores of equivalent work experience, ability to work on complex general ledger and reporting topics

Preferences Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheets

This person will be the primary person to help manage the operational duties vendor costs, including basic expense tracking of actuals and forecast.

Will provide a monthly close variance analysis vs. budget and vs. forecast, looking proactively for areas of improvement


Contractor will manage 3-way communications among operations, R&D managers/directors R&D operations, and Finance/Controlling in order to:

  • Working with shareholders, identify financial analysis software
  • Assist with software integration & implementation
  • Track R&D actual expenses posted vs planned, and follow up to ensure expense postings occur on time by month end
  • Prepare Travel (T&E) monthly reports, ad hoc analysis
  • Be able to track update the expense forecast with expected vendor spend per the PO/augmented staffing contract
  • Collaborate with Procurement Team to track invoices/payments to suppliers
  • Manage Project actuals and provide Finance summary forecast of monthly purchases related to capital
  • Assist Operations R&D Leads with ad hoc reporting and compliance
  • Be able to track missing invoices in AP modules, follow up on miscoded invoices and request re-classifications of expense as needed
  • Help operations leads to match monthly actuals to forecasted items in month in a tracking spreadsheet
  • Assist with project/portfolio reporting as needed to classify actuals for resources (people, contractors, software, equipment, consulting) to the project they are assigned.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly Software capitalization reporting (team tracking/verification, following up with updates that need to be made), and adhoc reports
  • Assist tracking of monthly spend, including reconciling invoices against Statements of Work and time sheets, as applicable
  • Help track International R&D spend
  • Audit requirement preparation/follow-ups

Required skills/Desired Attributes:

-Desire to manage something from start to end and bring to resolution. Keep the ball rolling and ability to switch tasks as needed
-Enjoys coordinating among many people and able to follow up consistently
-Basic Accounting Knowledge (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, debits and credits)
-Expert knowledge of Excel & Google Sheets (pivot tables), willingness to learn more if limited knowledge
-Basic business acumen (trade-offs of effort and value)
-Good problem solving skills
-Ability to prioritize and balance time against deadlines
-Good communication skills, friendly and helpful demeanor
-Good tracking and problem solving skills, and willingness to develop them
-Flexible and team-oriented, willing to match the bigger picture with needed work tasks and manage accordingly
-Ability to manage self with high-level directions (self-directed, self starter)
-Results-oriented/goal oriented
-Willingness to dig in when a persistent problem exists, and set up processes to address the underlying issues/roadblocks
