Addiction Prevention Coalition has an immediate opening for a Program Director.  Primarily responsible or supervision of all aspects of the agency's substance abuse prevention programs in the city of Birmingham as part of a newly awarded Federal grant. The ideal candidate will use the Strategic Prevention Framework to identify problematic substances and develop and implement appropriate strategies among youth and adults.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all programs are operating according to local, state, and federal regulations, contract requirements, and established policies and procedures.
  • Review all program records and files to ensure compliance with established policies.
  • Hire, train, and directly supervise program employees
  • Act as liaison with other service providers, schools, and community agencies.
  • Review/audit program service delivery and related program documentation.
  • Assist in monitoring progress toward program goals and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, or more often as needed.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities designated by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications for Position

  • Must be a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or be able to become certified within the first 15 months
  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or six (6) years of paid experience providing substance abuse prevention, intervention, or treatment and/or experience working with youth and families.
  • Public Health degree preferred
  • At least one (1) year of personnel management and recent supervisory experience is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Must be able to accept supervision, be able to provide program services, be able to provide program services, be able to follow procedures, and be able to accurately and efficiently update record keeping systems.
  • Knowledge of area resources are necessary
  • Must be adaptable to change
  • Be able to delegate tasks and supervise the completion of the tasks
  • Must be able to prepare reports on program activities to inform management of program accomplishments, issues and problems.
