JOB SUMMARY The Manager of Operational Excellence will report to the Global Head of Operational Excellence, and is responsible for leading and managing Operational Excellence for all areas of the plant.
This person will develop OpEx plans and drive continuous improvement in operations, maintenance, warehouse, materials planning and scheduling, research and development, quality control, and quality assurance. This Manager will also be responsible for identifying key experts within each department to build a site Operational Excellence Task Force, to support targeted efforts in continuous improvement and drive the OpEx culture at the site. RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES Plans and executes a holistic OpEx program for the facility. Shares best practices with peers in other facilities to promote process harmonization. Supports OpEx training plans developed by the Global OpEx team. Develops standard measurements and report metrics through the global OpEx dashboard. Delivers measurable cost savings, tangible quality / safety / environmental / sustainable improvements. Supports development of capital plans and budgeting as needed to support OpEx. Leads regularly scheduled OpEx meetings with Site Leadership Team to review and track progress. Communicates and influences change in processes and methods. Works with the leadership to establish recognition and celebration to promote OpEx involvement. Actively pursues “best practices” to improve the plant operations. Supports plants when problems are encountered and escalates the concern when appropriate. Works with functional and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, gathering data, analyzing and developing improvements, using statistical analyses and waste elimination techniques. Ensures consistency of lean methods and application of approach and techniques. Creates and drives cultural shift through engaging and empowering people. Works with Supply Chain Leadership to develop key performance measurements and reporting. Reports financial gains regularly to Supply Chain Leadership. Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field from accredited school required. Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing and lean work environment. Strong interpersonal skills, with hands-on experience using continuous improvement methods and tools (LEAN, TPM, Six Sigma, TQM, Kaizen, etc.). Proven effective analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to identify and implement countermeasures to prevent recurrence of problems. Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results. Strong work ethic and ability to work in groups and/or independently as required. Ability to work in a dynamic, matrix, cross-functional organization. Quality orientation and high attention to detail. Ability to effectively communicate with management and personnel at all levels. Ability to adapt and work in a fast paced work environment, while balancing and adjusting.
