The "Second ACTS" thrift store is non-profit and supports the programs of ACTS that make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in crisis. The Thrift Store Clerk processes donated clothes and other items for sale and assists customers. They answer customer questions, operate the cash register, and maintain the cleanliness and safety of the store to ensure customers have a satisfactory shopping experience. The Thrift Store Clerk also receives and sorts donations both at the donation center and the retail store.

Position Title: Thrift Store Clerk
Division/Department: Operations
Reports to: Thrift Store Manager
Salary: $15.90/hour ($16.40 for bilingual English and Spanish)
Hours per week: 40 hours
Schedule: Availability Monday through Saturday - generally 5, 8-Hour Shifts
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt (OT eligible)

Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions
- Receives, sorts, prices and stocks donated goods and assists in maintaining seasonal merchandise stock.
- Operates the cash register accurately to include voiding and redeeming vouchers.
- Provides a courteous and professional service to customers and donors while answering in-person and telephone inquiries.
- Maintains cleanliness and tidiness of the store, ensuring racks and shelves are stocked appropriately and neatly.
- Maintains the security of the store and the grounds.
- Provides assistance and mentoring of volunteers as directed.
- Attends staff meetings and professional training as scheduled.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Available to work Monday through Saturday during store operating hours, as well as opening and closing shifts and holidays as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Fluent in both English and Spanish languages.
- Can operate a 14' to 15' box truck used to transport donations and/or haul trash from time-to-time.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- Previous experience in retail and cash register operation, preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing behind the cash register while maintaining the sales floor.
- Undertakes all physical requirements involved with the Thrift Store setting; including but not limited to lifting up to 40 lbs., bending, squatting, pushing and pulling and standing for long periods of time.
