Job Description

Now in its 25th year of productivity, Accudyn is in search of an experienced shipping and logistics professional to join our thriving Erie, Pennsylvania location as a Shipping Supervisor. Accudyn has been recognized not only for its excellence in engineering and plastics injection molding, but also for its efforts in generating a welcoming and progressive company culture and diverse workforce. The ideal shipping supervisor candidate can perform the required job functions in compliance with our internal ISO policies, procedures, work instructions, and our external customer expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

These include the following, but additional duties may be assigned:

  • Prepare packing slips and bill of lading for outgoing shipments and schedule pickup of same per customer instructions. Check items to be shipped to ascertain that quantities, destination and routing are correct.
  • Complete advanced shipping notices (ASN) where required by customer.
  • Prepare outgoing UPS, DHL, FedEx, etc., and other required shipping paperwork and labels.
  • Prepare paperwork for international shipments as needed.
  • Secure logistics quotes as requested (domestic and international).
  • Prepare NAFTA/USMCA documents as necessary.
  • Able to reconcile incoming receipts and associated paperwork/labels as instructed.
  • Secure tracking information for inbound and outbound shipments as necessary.
  • Work with other departments within company, such as customer service, to identify and resolve complaints from customers and/or to secure expedites; purchasing, to maintain a healthy inventory level; and accounting, to ensure costs are correctly allocated.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts for off-site warehousing and to ensure shuttles are maintained and on-time delivery of shipments and receipts, all while minimizing cost impact.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of the shipping department.
  • Set schedules of shipping employees.
  • Direct, assign, and plan labor and duties within the department.
  • Responsible for conducting performance appraisals as well as addressing complaints and resolving problems of shipping employees.

Competencies

  • Capable of multi-tasking and are able to prioritize activities in the warehouse area.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operations.

Education and/or Experience  

  • High school education (diploma or GED)
  • B.S. in Supply Chain Management or in any other logistics-related field

Required Skills

  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, superiors, and subordinates both verbally and in writing.
  • Apply basic math skills.
  • Solve practical one-the-job problems.
  • Use basic computer skills with proper instruction.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certified to operate forklift safely

Other Skills and Abilities  

  • Perform other functional responsibilities with little to no supervision and work independently and make decisions.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with coworkers and management both verbally and in writing
