Position: Activities Assistant
Position Type: Non-Exempt
Direct Reports: Occupational Therapy Department
Assists in the implementation and coordination of resident activities and programs.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Prepares and leads activities as scheduled
Direct individual projects according to resident needs and abilities
Responsible for daily preparation of supplies for activities
Assists in keeping residents safe
Must be able to work independently with a group and self-motivated
Must be able to problem solve and improvise
Must be reliable and timely
Must be creative and maintain a positive attitude
Must be a compassionate individual that enjoys working mental health and AOD patients. Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Additional requirements will include:
Interest an area of activity or entertainment
Experience with mental health/AOD a plus
Person must enjoy visiting and caring patients
Person must exhibit an uplifting and patient demeanor.
Shifts will include days, nights and weekends
Physical Demands/Work Conditions:
Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for 8-12 hour shifts
Frequent use of fine motor skills to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and ability to reach with hands and arms on a regular basis
Intermittently required to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds * Consistently required to talk and/or hear
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus along with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures and/or instructions
Some assignments may require ability to have or arrange for dependable means of transportation to other clinic locations, meetings, or community events.
