JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Outside Sales

NOTE: The below job description is intended to describe the general contents of, and requirements for, this position. RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE OUTSIDE REP:

Market and sell products and /or services to organizations outside the office.

  • Develop relationships with new and existing customers and provide information to maximize sales volume.
  • Conduct market research.
  • Quotes prices, prepare proposals and provide information regarding terms of sales and delivery dates.
  • Plan and perform a variety of business development and outside sales activities.
  • Identify business opportunities and prospects.
  • Receive order from customer and write Sales Register. When sell price is quoted (different from normal pricing structure), put price on Sales Register.
  • Write Purchase Order for non-stock merchandise or merchandise being shipped directly to the customer. Write the net cost on the Purchase Order when it is placed.
  • Write the sell price on the Sales Register.
  • Write Credit Memo when customer requests permission to return merchandise and PC Manager or delegate gives approval.
  • Research Credit Memos

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THE OUTSIDE REP:

Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle, and have a driving record, which meets the company standards as stated in SPI 537, Vehicles and its subsection “Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs)”.

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical products and their functions
  • Ability to analyze customer potential.
  • Ability to determine target accounts and work with Credit Office to determine credit worthiness of customers.
  • Ability to use time management system to call on customers while building relationships and making sales calls.
  • Possess experience in sales and a thorough knowledge of company products.
  • Ability to travel and make outside sales calls.
  • Ability to research Credit Memos.
  • Math skills that include calculating percentages, decimals (.1, .01, .001) and discount multipliers.
  • Understanding of customer needs and expectations.
  • Capabilities to ask questions, understand the application, and offer materials that fulfill those requirements.
  • Ability to sell cost effective alternative materials.
  • Receive and forward customer and vendor feedback while making suggestions for improvement.
  • Capacity to multi task, to be organized and consistent.
  • Desire to exceed expectations and earn customer trust and confidence in one’s capabilities and performance.
  • Ability to comprehend, read, and to communicate the English language orally and in writing.
  • Understanding of customer needs and expectations.
  • Receive and forward customer and vendor feedback while making suggestions for improvement.
  • Capacity to multi-task, to be organized and consistent.
  • Desire to exceed expectations and earn customer trust and confidence in one’s capabilities and performance.
  • Develop customer potential analysis.
  • Determine target accounts.
  • Make outside calls on customers.
  • Build relationships with customers.
  • Participate in sales meetings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE OUTSIDE REP:

Highly Motived, Excellent Communication Skills, ability to work as part of the team.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Industry Experience Helpful – Not Necessary

EDUCATION: High School Degree
