Digital Communications Assistant

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national nonprofit association established in 1863 that represents more than 100,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services, is seeking a Digital Communications Assistant to join our Marketing and Communications team, located at our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois – a northwest suburb of Chicago. The AVMA’s mission is to lead the profession by advocating for its members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health.
Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, the Digital Communications Assistant will help advance digital projects and initiatives in support of Marketing and Communications and AVMA’s strategic plans. This position will provide technical and administrative assistance in the development and maintenance of various digital efforts; and work collaboratively with the AVMA News team and Publications staff to ensure the smooth implementation and delivery of news and AVMA journal content.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in web editing, web design, or UX/UI design
- Minimum of 5-years related work experience, association experience is preferred
- Proven experience with HTML, CSS and web publishing
- Experience with Drupal, Higher Logic and SharePoint content management systems is preferred
- Experience with Google Analytics, Google Looker Studio and Google Tag Manager
- Familiar with association management systems, customer relationship management systems and database-driven web applications is a plus
- Conversant and comfortable with principles of digital design, writing and editing
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Ability to edit photography for digital use
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to interact with all levels within the organization, as well as external contacts
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
