Position Summary: AV Service Technician – Smart Home Systems

AVDG is looking for a stellar Service Technician who is skilled in AV smart home installation and installation projects with technical expertise to troubleshoot and provide technical support and service for complex systems while providing professional white glove customer service skills for AVDG clients. You will effectively and efficiently execute on AVDG service calls, engage with escalated client needs, assist with operational requirements, and additional projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate will use their passion for residential smart home automation and experience in installation and service to drive their need for excellence and make a strong impact in contribution as a key member of the AVDG Service Team.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Servicing and troubleshooting of residential smart home systems including distributed video, audio, shades, and lighting control systems
  • Provide training to clients on the use of AV systems
  • Engage in preventative maintenance visits to maintain client systems
  • Perform equipment delivery and associated responsibilities
  • Carry out service tasks in a timely and quality conscious manner including, but are not limited to pulling cable, install connectors, projector mounting / hanging (ceiling mounts), TV installation/de-installation
  • Conduct field installation of control programs (AMX/Crestron/Lutron/Firmware, etc.) – upload, download, make code changes, and troubleshooting
  • Interface directly with clients or client representatives to determine the issue(s) and effectively communicate resolution while establishing
  • Provide detailed reporting at the conclusion of each service call for record-keeping

To join our band, you’ll need the following experience:

  • Minimum 2 years in audio/visual technician/service experience in a residential environment.
  • Experience with Control systems (AMX, Crestron, Lutron, Biamp, Q-Sys, Savant, Control4, Extron, Dante) is highly desirable.
  • Advanced computer skills with the ability to navigate around PC and Mac and possess a deeper understanding of Windows/Mac OS applications.
  • Familiarity with Apple IOS products (Apple TV, iPad, Airport Express, iPhone, IOS10, etc.) as they relate to daily use for interfacing with and controlling integrated networks
  • Must have full understanding of the pre-wire, trim and final phases of a project, including proper use of all associated tools and job site safety.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand device layout drawings, engineered schematics and provide redline corrections and construction blueprints as they pertain to the A/V industry.
  • Industry certifications from Crestron, Lutron, and CTS are HIGHLY DESIRED
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with a variety of personalities and cultures are mandatory.
