The Systems Quality Engineering Manager is a key leadership position within the Engineering group who manages and participates in the day-to-day operations of a team testing devices and software applications. The Systems Quality Engineering Manager supports a broad range of activities, from product concept, through prototype development, transfer to manufacturing, and incoming QC. This position will work closely with the members of a multi-disciplinary engineering team throughout the development process, from supporting initial proposals and feasibility studies through requirements definition, hardware and software development, implementation, validation, and system deployment. The Systems Quality Engineering Manager will lead his or her team to analyze system requirements to create and then execute component-, module- and system-level verification and validation test plans. This position also works with Engineering team leads and corporate quality to drive process improvements and adoption of best practices.

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Integration and Test Engineering and Software test teams to:
    • Define and develop device qualification and product release testing strategies.
    • Define and develop incoming quality inspections for components and materials.
    • Define and develop module and system-level verification and validation plans.
    • Define and develop software application and platform qualification and release testing strategies and plans.
    • Execute inspection and test plans
  • Revises and approves test plans and scripts. Evaluates test results against expected results, implements improvements to process and recommend alternative testing as needed.
  • Effectively represent the company during the development and execution of test plans for customer projects.
  • Working with Engineering and Production peers, drive effective transfer of device design from Engineering to Production including sourcing of test tools and fixtures and evaluation and development of production acceptance test plans.
  • Review and approve Engineering Change orders for Quality Assurance
  • Maintain and ensure operational compliance with Engineering Quality Management System procedures and policies.
  • Represent engineering in quality system audits (after some time to get acclimated, of course)
  • Building a cohesive high performing team.

  • Devising and trying new methods and improving current methods and processes.
  • Executing consistently and finding ways to add new value.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES [education, certification, experience, general skills)

  • Engineering degree, Electrical, Computer or Systems preferred. MS desired.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead and engage teams
  • Business-minded with the ability to understand business strategies in the alignment of development and production strategies.
  • Proven success working cross-functionally with global teams.
  • Broad hardware and software engineering background
  • Skilled in data analysis and mentoring others in the application of statistical techniques
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, but also work well within a team.
  • Analytical thinker is able to set and measure performance on group goals and objectives.
  • Ability to plan and schedule on a short- and long-term basis.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and application of quality systems.
  • Able to work accurately and with attention to detail. Able to read and follow engineering drawings and instructions
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, SAP)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers
  • 10 plus years relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance

  • Approximately 10% [domestic/international] travel required
