ADRN is a network of over 185 churches in the Greater Austin Texas area. ADRN’s mission is to glorify Christ by equipping, empowering, and mobilizing a network of churches to respond to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those affected by a disaster. ADRN has assisted more than

43,000 disaster survivors, trained thousands of volunteers from their network of churches, and donated an estimated $16 million to rebuilding and recovery, emergency funding, transportation, short-term housing, and goods and services to help families and individuals get back on their feet.

ADRN is seeking a Volunteer Development Manager (VDM) to help formulate and execute a Volunteer Development Management program that incorporates all the areas that our population of volunteers is subject to.

Job Description:

The Volunteer Development Manager’s primary responsibility is to participate in formalizing, standardizing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive volunteer development management program that will prepare and utilize ADRN’s volunteers to accomplish ADRN’s mission and vision. The VDM takes primary responsibility for recruiting, orienting, placing and retaining volunteers. The VDM reports to the Chief Development Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

● Establish a VDM Department, by building a core team of volunteers to assist in implementing all VDM responsibilities, including but not limited to volunteer retention, development, and recruiting in and outside of disasters.

● Develop multiple recruiting sources for ADRN departments and functions.

● Develop volunteer retention, development, and recruiting monthly reports for Board, Executive and Senior Leaders.

● Develop job descriptions for VDM Core Team and volunteers at all levels.

● Administer the department according to the current VDM Policy/Procedures Manual.

● Work with ADRN leadership to develop new policies, procedures, and other documentation that describes and directs the actions of the VDM department.

● Finalize VDM Program Manual to include in ADRN’s National Training Academy curriculum.

● Manage, facilitate and teach ADRN’s Basic Training & Orientation program for new volunteers and promotes ADRN’s I AM Ready Program to all volunteers.

● Develop relationships with network church Disaster Relief Coordinators (DRCs), and pastors to establish 22-24 orientation trainings per year, VDM will work closely with ADRN’s Network Development department to establish church relationships.

● Develop and maintain the New Volunteer Informational Packet.

● Ensure volunteers regularly update their online dashboard through marketing programs.

● Manage ADRN Core Team leaders (e.g. CISM, CERT, Chaplain) to increase volunteer recruitment, development, and retention.

● Work with ADRN leadership and Core Team to assist with quarterly disaster simulations that volunteers are encouraged to participate in as part of their ongoing education.

● Establish strong communications and working relationships with all internal departments and Core Teams.

● Work with the IT department to add new fields to the Volunteer Database as needed for current or future reports.

● Develop internal protocols for staff who supervise volunteers.

● Develop an annual volunteer survey to document volunteer participation and feedback.

● Manage and facilitate a volunteer survey after every disaster deployment.

● Develop and manage ADRN’s Volunteer Appreciation Program and annual Volunteer Celebration event.

● Ensure every volunteer deployed is prayed over utilizing ADRN’s “prayer buddy” protocol.

● Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

● Two years of experience managing staff and/or volunteers.

● Training in Volunteer Development Management.

● Bachelor’s degree in administrative, management, business, and/or human resources is preferred.

● Three years of experience in business, social services, human resources, or related areas is preferred.

● Professional designation in volunteer or personnel management, such as CVA is a plus.

● Writing skills related to writing the documents needed to manage the program such as volunteer job descriptions, a volunteer program brochure, and program-related press releases.

● Great interpersonal, networking, and rapport building skills with boards, community members, coworkers, and volunteers.

● Information systems knowledge of office and personnel management software required for this position are but not limited to Microsoft Office, database, personnel notification, email, social media.

● Public speaking and presentation skills needed to perform training and information sessions.

● Experience working in the nonprofit sector preferred.

● May be required to work occasional nights and/or weekends.

● Sets the tone on reliability, attendance, high-performance standards, and what it means to be an “I AM Ready” Christian, emotionally, spiritually, and physically to all volunteers.

● Spends minimally one planned, full day per month, away from the office, seeking God’s face for direction, guidance, support, and relief for the role. Spends time in the word and prayer with God for spiritual instruction, growth, and rest.

● Attends all of ADRN’s emotional, spiritual, and physical training to understand the depth of what ADRN offers churches and volunteers.

● Minimum of 40 hours per week.

● Sign ADRN’s Statement of Faith.

● Attend Thursday morning All Staff Prayer and All Staff Meetings at HOPE Prayer Center.

Ethical Standards:

ADRN has a reputation for conducting its ministry and activities with integrity and in accordance with the highest ethical and Biblical standards. All employees of ADRN must be committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, in accordance with the Bible and with ADRN’s Statement of Faith. The authority for making a determination of these standards for ADRN shall be the Board of Directors working in consultation with the Executive Director, applying their interpretation of the standards set forth in the Bible.
