Job Description

The primary responsibility of a product development scientist is to research and develop new products and production processes for ASK Chemicals. You are also responsible for modifying existing products and processes to improve the efficiency and profitability of a desired product line.

 

  • Work closely with the R&D manager and other members of the team
  • Plan and perform laboratory bench work
  • Maintain a clean laboratory environment and ensure safety regulations are followed
  • Keep a neat and orderly lab notebook
  • Conducts chemical and physical laboratory testing by following established procedures
  • Sand core characterization: tensile and bench-life of sand mixes
  • Documents test results and reports analyses according to good laboratory practices.
  • Work independently
  • Must be able to get minimum understanding of the product line(s)
  • Run routine tests for characterization (ignition testing, TGA and DSC,IR)
  • Master additional sand core characterization techniques
  • Sets up and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for routine tests and research purposes.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s in science, experimental physics, chemistry or mechanical Engineering, material science, ceramic Engineering, Metallurgy

 

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory environment subject of interest including material testing, thermal analysis of materials, ceramic manufacturing, computer simulation, metal casting/foundry
  • Positive attitude
  • Good communication skills for effective liaison and teamwork
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, administrative, and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and software (Excel, MiniTab®, Phyton or R.)
