Job Description

SUMMARY

The Service Desk Technician role primary responsibilities will be to assist staff with technical support of desktop computers, applications and related technology. The role will assist with Help Desk duties, escalations, ticket flow, some management of resources, and the occasional wrap-up of projects + some internal centralized services work.

ASG Information Technologies, a growing managed IT service provider (MSP) in Wallingford, CT, is expanding rapidly. We are in need of a superstar IT Technician for service desk. This is a full-time position and the ideal candidate will have a combination of IT technical skills as well as the ability to interface with clients to create an enjoyable support experience. Minimum 4 years experience in IT support role.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support includes specification, installation and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines.
  • Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems.
  • The position utilizes one-on-one consultancy to end users and Network staff. Alerts management to recurring problems and patterns of problems.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software with established standards and guidelines.
  • Works with Help Desk and Network Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from users.
  • Must be able to interact with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client server environment.
  • Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers and administrative systems.
  • Participating in new client on-boarding and special projects.
  • Troubleshooting issue related to applications, workstations, servers, networking, wireless, VOIP
  • Participating in new client on-boarding and special projects.
  • Responding to client support tickets from the office.
  • Service Ticket review
  • Handling of escalations from team.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • 3-4+ years of technical experience in an SMB helpdesk or desktop support role.
  • Direct experience with help desk
  • Knowledge of and experience troubleshooting Windows 7, 8, 10, and server OS’s.
  • Basic Hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to interact with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client server environment.
  • Familiarity with ticketing and time tracking processes.
  • Must be knowledgeable with the concepts and policy controls of Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of and experience with printer mapping, LAN/WAN network configuration and troubleshooting, as well as VPN client connectivity.

  • Routing, Switching, and Firewall
  • VLAN, DNS, DHCP, WiFi, VOIP, MFA, other server roles.

Experience:

  • Desktop/HelpDesk Support: 3 years (Required)
  • IT: 6 years (Required)
  • MSP: 2 years (Preferred)
