Job Summary

We are looking for team oriented and mission driven individual to join our family as a truck driver! We are a critical, nationwide transportation company that specializes in moving parts in the quickest, most efficient way possible. When our customers call, they're typically losing thousands per hour in order to get their machines/lines up and running again so we ensure that in addition to moving our customer's parts, we provide excellent service and are customer oriented every step of the way. Our driver will have great customer service, reliability and efficiency. The driver will safely and efficiently drive a truck for extended hours to pick up and deliver freight - and will be home every night. CDL license is not required, but is preferred. The driver will be based in or around Columbia, South Carolina and will work 40+ hours a week.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and transport freight to and from customer locations and airport
  • Collect customers’ signatures upon completion of each delivery and document photos of freight
  • Verify that all freight is present, accounted for, properly secured for transportation, and notify dispatch of any freight damage sustained before, during or after transportation
  • Neatly and accurately complete bill of ladings and MAWB’s (Master Airway Bill) for airlines to tender freight
  • Maintain driver logbook and daily vehicle inspection report according to I.C.C regulations
  • Promptly report traffic violations, road accidents, vehicle breakdowns or any other delay that may impact safety and/or scheduled delivery times
  • Interact daily with customers and operations team with the highest level of customer service
  • Sit, stand, climb, lift 50 lbs. Must be able to load cargo weighing more than 1000 lbs. with the assistance of a pallet jack
  • Conduct constant communication with the central dispatch for assignments
  • Label and keep organized all pickups and freight onboard
  • Properly and carefully fill out Airway bills prior to tendering cargo to airport
  • Some packing and unpacking of freight in customer offices and shipping locations

Qualifications

  • 1+ year minimum experience driving and delivering in larger vehicles (Box trucks, small flatbeds, etc.)
  • CDL Class A, B & C preferred, but NOT required
  • Ability to work overtime; 10 - 12 hours a day
  • Ability to pass a Security Threat Assessment (TSA), drug and alcohol test
  • Must be professional oriented, and willing / able to speak to customers at plant sites
  • Must be willing to be on an "on call" rotation for weekend work that comes up
  • Must be physically able to utilize strapping, chains, binders, and other equipment necessary to secure freight
  • Must be able / willing to get a DOT health card (paid for by company)
  • Strong communication, customer service and time management skills
  • Experienced in commercial driving in winter terrain and conditions
  • Must be able to operate a pallet jack or lift gate as needed
  • Knowledge of loading and unloading freight
  • Understand the rules and regulations of the road and HOS (hours of service) rules
  • Ability to operate handheld computer and cellular telephone

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to operate and drive a truck
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
  • Must be able to climb into and out of tractor several times per day
  • Ability to lift over 50lbs at a time
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat in order to perform a full inspection of the underside of the trailer and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage
  • Must be able to work outside for short periods of time in all types of weather
