Located on 4th Street in Berkeley, a dynamic shopping district, we are a coffee café & roaster fiercely passionate about the best coffees, milks & food. Artis Coffee purveys only the finest fair trade & organic coffees paired with the finest organic grass fed small farm milks. We strive daily to provide our customers with the best coffees available with the best foods in our café with the warmest hospitality.
We are looking for passionate experienced leaders to guide our team in providing the Artis Coffee experience servicing coffees, pastries, and weekly jazz/entertainment. Our Leaders will be responsible for the daily operations, ensuring our customer experience is best of class.
Responsibilities include hiring, training and developing all baristas and team members for his/her respective position, ensuring all our guests at the cafe have an exceptional experience, leading the cafe to be financially/operationally successful and overseeing our instore roasting.
Build, develop, inspire, and retain an incredible team, regularly giving and receiving positive constructive feedback and coaching your baristas, food prep roasters to offer the best in customer service.
Continuously develops self and team in coffee knowledge and shares it with customers
Ensure every guest at your cafe has a wonderful experience by continually exceeding our guest’s expectations.
Drive customer traffic, costumer conversion and motivate team to drive sales.
Work both on the floor as well as on corporate/store leadership areas.
Manage store employment schedule for your team which balances individual, team and cafe needs while meeting our business goals for efficiency
Oversee all ordering including coffee, milk, food ingredients, pastries, inventory, etc. while ensuring to minimize store waste.
In coordination with Artis owners and accounting team, manage day-to-day financial operations of the cafe smoothly, including banking, payroll, store performance matrix etc.

Able to balance both the big picture and the nitty-gritty in shaping and leading the strategy for your cafe but also driving excellent day- to-day operations at the smallest level of detail

Create timely and complete schedules, taking into consideration of business and employees needs
Completes payroll accurately and submits it within the proper timeframe.

Models hospitality and is in service to the customer. Acts to resolve customer concerns and is always looking for ways to make the experience better
Monitors, coaches and encourages team members to the customer’s expectations through the team’s execution of the operations, processes, recipes and knowledge
Know all products, including ingredients, quality consistency positioning and signage with the ability to answer questions that might come up from staff or customers.
Completes required inventories and accurate ordering in the proper time to grow the business.
Manage the store’s financial performance and costs to include accurate cash controls and product ordering
Completes the weekly financial corporate requirements accurately and in a timely manner.
Is relentless to find ways to drive sales and create new customers. Monitors KPI’s always looking for areas to improve
A passion for delicious coffee, for great food, for leadership and for providing first class hospitality
4+ years of retail/hospitality experience managing a profitable café with a strong preference for coffee, food & beverage
A strong understanding of a profit and loss statement, and knowledge of how to impact it
4+ years of retail management experience leading a team of 8+ people
Comfort using computer programs, Drop Box, Excel, Word, Square and team scheduling software.
Experience recruiting, hiring and managing staff Enjoys working on a team and collaborating as a team player
Leadership, relationship, team building and conflict management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both oral and written.
Must be able to exercise independent judgment and decision- making skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
