Wet Process Engineer
SCOPE:
The Wet Process Engineer oversees and evaluates all wet process functions including deburring/sanding, electroless and electrolytic plating, etch and resist stripping. The Wet Process Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide product and process support by routine inspection of product, processes, equipment, and supplies.
- Conduct process evaluations to ensure optimal process conditions, minimize process variations and improve processing times and quality.
- Enhance manufacturing capabilities by actively seeking process improvement activities.
- Perform occasional chemical analysis to support wet processes.
- Conduct failure analysis of non-conformance product to determine the root cause and preventive actions.
- Prepare and review microsections for product and chemical processes evaluations.
- Initiate, review, and revise processes procedures.
- Ensure operators are properly trained and assist with training, as required.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department on new equipment installation.
- Schedule and conduct preventative maintenance with waste treatment assistance.
- Update Pre-Planning Engineering, Planning, and DFM departments on new process capabilities, process flows and new technologies
- Perform additional tasks and special projects assigned by management.
- Implement and support company safety protocols.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Engineering Degree or minimum of five (5) years in wet process manufacturing.
- Excellent English language communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong knowledge of complex board manufacturing including micro-vias, blind and/or buried-vias, edge and selective plating on rigid and rigid-flex boards Able to effectively. communicate with management and supervisory staff.
- Extensive chemical handling experience, tank make-up and chemical additions.
- Understanding of industry standards and specifications (IPC).
- Proficient understanding and ability to effectively apply information provided in Material Safety Data sheets (MSD/ SDS).
- Excellent work ethics, detail oriented and self-motivated.
- Must be able to work individually and in a team environment.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced, time sensitive, environment.
- Able to set-up and use non-destructive measuring devices such as XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) and thru-hole copper thickness checker (CMI 700/ 900 or equivalent).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to lift 5-gallon containers to waist height. The containers weigh approximately forty (40) pounds.
- Able to walk on uneven flooring, climb stairs.
- Able to work in a room environment where multiple chemicals are used and stored.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by work area.
