Purpose of Job:

The Senior IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for the daily operation and monitoring of APCON’s corporate IT infrastructure in support of all APCON end-users.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with IT Management on overall systems operation and design
  • Provide end user Linux desktop support and provide Linux Server support
  • Assists the team in tracking IT equipment, records, and software licensing
  • Performs continuous preventative maintenance tasks and updates on company IT hardware and software systems
  • Administers and ensures routine maintenance and updates to all IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring that all systems are in compliance with corporate IT policy
  • Manages all Linux servers in collaboration with the Engineering and IT departments
  • Collaboratively manages, maintains, and updates Microsoft IIS, Active Directory, WSUS, SugarCRM, ShoreTel, Exchange and other back-office applications and server room equipment
  • Collaboratively maintains network operations which will include headquarters, a remote site, as well as mobile devices
  • Collaboratively maintain and configure firewall appliances, antivirus and other security tools and monitors audit logs to detect suspicious activity
  • Conducts network vulnerability scans and works collaboratively with IT leadership to ensure secure operations
  • Provides after hours support for planned maintenance and on-call emergency support when required

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a corporate IT administrator role supporting Linux operating systems
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing Linux systems in an Active Directory environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel with the customer service/end-user support mindset
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and updates of hardware and software
  • Knowledge of computer hardware peripheral devices and networking/switching equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting network issues/problems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP VLANs and various network monitoring tools
  • Windows and Linux experience and experience with IT workflow automation preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Education:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Information Science or a related field preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • To perform the duties of this position, you must have the ability to occasionally sit, stand, bend, twist, reach, carry, lift, pull, and push between 1-15 lbs.
