JOB TITLE: Paver Operator
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs general skilled or unskilled construction related activities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to supervisor or project superintendent.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and operating various hand and power tools, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and bending over for extended periods of time. Requires reaching, crawling, climbing, grasping, kneeling, squatting, and twisting. Often requires lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling items weighing up to 100 lbs. Sometimes requires working at heights. Requires correct vision and hearing within normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. This is a safety sensitive position.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold, noise and other conditions common to a construction site. Contractual obligations may require irregular hours, out-of-town work, overnight stays, nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a seasonal job with job-attached unemployment benefits.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This may not include all of the duties assigned)
1. Operates a paving machine
2. Rakes, Shovels, Sets String line
3. Knows, understands and follows the rules and regulations of the Company “Employee Safety Policy and Handbook.”
4. Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Previous experience operating paving/ milling equipment required
2. The ability to operate, with knowledge, awareness and understanding of the working elements of heavy construction, earth moving, paving and general construction equipment.
3. Knowledge of asphalt paving operations
4. Heavy equipment experience required
5. Ability to handle work load
6. Strong work ethic
7. Previous experience in asphalt paving related field
8. Regular and on-time attendance is required.
9. Valid Driver License required
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent may be required.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years’ experience preferred but not required. Construction experience a plus.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: Valid and active driver license may be required
