As AORN’s next Web Designer/Content Manager you understand that the AORN.ORG site is the front door to our Association and that it’s the primary marketing vehicle to increase engagement and strengthen broader marketing strategies. As a member of our Marketing team, you’ll get to:

  • take the entire visual presentation of the website into consideration, with an understanding of how all of the elements impact its architecture and user experience
  • combine form and function to create and manage content by collaborating with a variety of content owners and contributors – serving as the web content liaison
  • drive the overall user experience and the visual design of content
  • assess and recommend new technologies and ways to render content
  • oversee our content management system

You’ll be based out of our headquarters in Denver, CO and get to work remotely 1-2 days a week after onboarding and getting up to speed.

More about what you’ll get to do as our Web Designer/Content Manager:

  • Maintain, expand and scale the AORN website while implementing procedures and standards
  • Produce high-quality visual designs from concept to execution for desktop and mobile interfaces; support content creators by developing visual content for ongoing initiatives
  • Manage multiple competing priorities and projects
  • Work with developers to assess any technical challenges in displaying content
  • Create new ways for users to interact with the Association by creating visually appealing and intuitive online experiences
  • Ensure deadlines are met and products are delivered on time and on budget
  • Make new and existing web content search-engine friendly, while maintaining editorial quality and readability; establish and disseminate SEO guidelines for web content; work with e-commerce, internal clients, and editors to define and implement SEO strategy
  • Work with the Marketing team to ensure consistent messaging across platforms
  • Oversee Super User program to train, assist, and evaluate website contributors in collaboration with your manager
  • Train, teach and mentor others on the web content management system; create and maintain CMS User Guide
  • Create and deliver presentations to key internal and external stakeholders

Must Have’s to be our Web Designer/Content Manager:

  • At least 3 years of website and digital marketing or relevant experience
  • Deep understanding and ability to develop cross-browser/device compliant and fully responsive websites
  • Advanced HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap experience
  • Experience with various CMS systems including SiteCore and Sitefinity
  • Google Analytics experience
  • Demonstrated skill with graphic design; ability to effectively establish visual hierarchy, layout, typography and color
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical and design concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Strong writing/editing skills
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment; learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques
  • Project management experience; organized, task-oriented, and deadline-driven
  • Understanding of approval processes for and editing of online content to create text that meets the objectives of the organization's online presence
  • Ability to demonstrate and hold others accountable for organizational values of: communication, quality, innovation and collaboration

We’d prefer if our Web Designer/Content Manager also had:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, website design, graphic design, computer technology or related area
  • A strong portfolio outlining design thinking, interaction, and visual design across a wide range of enterprise and/or consumer user experiences
  • Knowledge of UX & UI principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with Javascript
  • A/B multivariate testing experience
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in website redesigns
  • Experience w/ e-commerce websites
