Substance Abuse Counselor

Our treatment center specializes in opioid dependence and is one of the most effective detox programs in the country. We provide medical opioid detoxification to adults in a hospital and recovery care is completed in a beautiful private upscale small recovery center called Domus Retreat. We are seeking a part-time Substance abuse Counselor or Medical Assistant for our facilities. Other shifts may be available on call and there is a possibility to cross-train at the hospital and work shifts at both locations. This is NOT an entry level position.

The successful Substance Abuse Counselor candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience, chemical dependency and/or behavioral health. Counselor or Medical Assistant must possess a strong medical background with knowledge of medications.

We treat a variety of patients from various backgrounds and diagnoses. The Counselor should have a positive attitude, flexibility and strong interpersonal skills.

Substance Abuse Counselor Responsibilities:

+ Facilitate client's daily activities

+ Ensure client safety

+ Input pertinent client information into records and assisting with admission and discharge forms

+ Monitor patient care and assessment

+ Coordinate with the manager, therapist, and doctor

+ Properly QA client medication sheets

+ Occasional transportation of clients

Substance Abuse Counselor REQUIREMENTS:

* Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug test

* Five years experience in health care or mental health care field

* Detox experience a ++++

* Must be reliable, trustworthy and dependable

* Drug and alcohol counseling certification required

* Ability to work independently

* Excellent customer service

* Professional communication skills and basic computer knowledge

* Valid and clear drivers license with auto insurance

* Outstanding ethics and professionalism

* Extensive HIPPA knowledge

* Current CPR certification concurrent with your license

* Overall performance and competency consistent with education, training, experience and reflective of current standards of practice/care
