Job Description

We are partnered with a wonderful nonprofit healthcare provider in the San Fernando Valley to find a Director of Human Resources to plan, lead, and direct all activities in employee relations and development!

About you.

We are seeking a talented, energetic and resilient strategist & communicator who will support the Vice President of Human Resources with leadership execution. At the beginning, you will principally spearhead Covid-19 Human Capital Processes and procedures. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to take on self-directed leadership efforts and transition into a broader role in the organization.

Founded over 100 years ago, they provide a variety of health care services to an underserved population across LA (70% of their patients receive some sort of financial support). While the organization is in outstanding financial shape and does over $100M/year in revenue, their 1,000+ employees are on a mission to help their patients, exemplified by continually reinvesting in improved facilities and opening new service lines.

The Team.

You’ll report to a passionate Vice President of Human Resources who wants the absolute best for the organization and HR department. Having a decade of experience under her belt with the company, she’s ready to put her heart and soul into training, developing and mentoring her next Director of HR. You’ll have plenty of autonomy, even the ability to guide and dictate some of the responsibilities of this critically important position. Lastly, you’ll have direct oversight of 4-5 Managers and overseeing a department of 15+.

The front-line team is extremely dedicated (annual turnover is a ridiculously low 12%), and 160 FTEs have been here for over 15 years. Everyone has a voice, and engagement survey feedback actually matters here!

Your role.

  • Advises and guides in California HR policies, programs, processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provides employee/labor relations consultation to management including identifying and resolving HR issues in the organization.
  • Supervision and performance of assigned of HR staff.
  • Provides authoritative advice and guidance on employee relation matters.
  • Analyzes data and reports to identify and determine causes of problems and to develop recommendations for improvement of HR policies and practices.
  • Ensures that the organization is compliant with all Leave Administration and Workers Compensation state and federal laws.
  • Assesses training and development needs of staff and provides direction to improve performance.
  • Motivates and develops staff including recruiting the best people for the job.

Requirements.

  • 5+ years in Human Resources / Employee Services (Healthcare / Hospital experience is needed) with at least 2+ years as a Director of HR / Director of Human Capital
  • HR Director for over 1,000 employees or Senior Manager of Human Resources / Sr Manager of People Services for over 2,000 employees
  • HR Certification is desirable

Final salary is per employer discretion and commensurate with experience.
