The Employee Relations Specialists will perform a variety of duties to promote employee welfare, such as resolving human relations problems and promoting employee health and wellbeing. They interview workers and discuss personnel, human relations, and work-related problems that adversely affect morale, health, and productivity. This person also evaluates and resolves human relations, labor relations, and work-related problems, and meets with management to determine appropriate action.
The Employee Relations Specialist explains and provides advice to workers about company policies, procedures, and need for compliance. The Employee Relations Specialist supports the implementation and administration of policies and programs designed to foster positive working relationships between employees and the organization.
Conduct investigations into allegations of ethics concerns, conduct issues, discrimination, harassment, policy and contractual violations and retaliation.
Communicate thoroughly with management on complaints/disputes, investigate findings and conduct follow up activities.
Counsel employees regarding work, family, or personal problems.
Attend conferences and meetings, as employee-management liaison, to facilitate communication between parties.
Prepare reports, enter data and update case and incidents into the ER tracking system.
Prepare position statements in response to investigative outcomes.
Assist the ER Director in the document retrieval and discovery process.
Assist with various employee relations projects.
Participate in termination meetings.
Communicate policies pertaining to Human Resources, compensation and benefits.
Manage ER records, incident reports and case files.
Liaising between employees and management.
Provide management with reports on any employee relations issue and recommends resolutions.
Conduct mediation meetings.
Establish and maintain open communication channels with employees, and contractors to ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
Administer ADA, FLSA, FMLA and other accommodations required under the law.
Develop and present PowerPoint presentations on sexual harassment, disciplinary processes, and other employee relations matters.
Provide coaching and specialized in-house training on unlawful discrimination, harassment, sensitivity training, and diversity.
Other duties as assigned.
Requires a bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years of Employee Relations experience. Additional years in an HR Generalist role may substitute.
Thorough understanding of HR best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
