Position Title: Lead Project Manager / Engineer
Status: Exempt
Department: Project Management
Supervisor: General Manager
Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm M-F
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Management of the day to day operations of the project management department and staff, as well as meet or exceed company assigned goals and objectives for the department.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Assign RFQ’s/Leads to project managers and hold accountable for processing as per company policy.
- Ensure that RFQ’s/Leads and estimates/quotes are processed in a timely fashion so as to meet customer timelines.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Manage involvement and interaction with other departments, e.g. plant production, administration., and human resources.
- Review customer purchases orders and AMECO sales orders.
- Develop and maintain company quality standards.
- Train new project managers on order processing, company software, Company processes and procedures, and other skills as needed to be successful.
- Work with and negotiate with vendors as well as subcontractors to ensure optimal pricing for services and products are received.
- Interact with the quality manager and plant supervision to assure compliance with specifications, customer requirements and to resolve quality issues.
- Ensure that QDR’s and final inspections are processes are followed as per company policy and procedures.
- Maintenance of project related documentation such as travelers
- Total responsibility of executing a project through the project life cycle and ensuring that project managers do the same.
- Ensure compliance with American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) certification standards.
- Always strive to maintain company margins.
- Strive for continuous improvement of project management systems.
- Work with the general manager and office manager to produce financial information.
- Ensure that analytics are updated weekly and shared with project management team and management.
- Hold project managers accountable to weekly, monthly, and weekly goals and objectives.
- Maintain safe working conditions.
- Facilitate weekly meetings with project management team with a focus on productivity and sales.

- Attend training and seminars and share with staff in order to enhance their professional development.
- Review professional publications.
- Network at hiring events in order to find potential candidates.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering degree from an accredited institution (Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Welding, Metallurgical)
- 5 plus years of metal fabrication experience
- 2 plus years of Leadership/management experience
- Working knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Sales experience in the metal fabrication or steel industry
- Mechanical aptitude
- Excellent CAD knowledge and implementation
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings
